You can get this at 2 opportunities.
1st when playing as the ninja girl. You will pass through a bamboo "forest". While fighting the demons you may accidently pop the cheev.
2nd when playing as Sam again. You do not need to enter this area as the exit door at the end is locked, but it is useful if you missed it as the girl.

All you need to do is cut some bamboo with your sword or knife. As Kaede, an easy place to get this is the bamboo forest near the room just before you enter the place where you need to put the "Gold Plate" and "Silver Plate" to open a gate.
