How to unlock the Vengeance achievement in Onimusha: Warlords - Definitive Guide

After you grab the Blue orb on the underground temple you will see a chess to the right on the hallway next to the blue orb altar, make sure to open it, on the chess choose left, right, left, and it should open, you will get rope ladder, later on, you will cross a bridge and find yourself in a square area with a bunch of Oni's that keep spawning, keep going to your left and you will find a door, go through it and in the next area you find a courtyard with a big hole on a wall, get close to that hole and press option button, and use Rope ladder on it, now you can go down and fight Osric.

Story-related, can't be missed.

Osric is the first boss of the game but isn't that hard to kill if you know his moves. He has a (really big) club that will swing all over. What you have to do is read its movements. Basically, he used two attacks, one vertical and one horizontal. Horizontal can be defended but he hits two times, so stay on guard till the second blow. Vertical have two variations. One can't be blocked and should be evaded. It's when he get his club up. Just lock on him (holding ) then when he raises his club, quickly press (but don't hold) the movement button opposite way Samanosuke is facing. Doing this, the protagonist will dash backwards, getting away from the attack. Vertical attack down-up can be blocked.

Using the Shiden special ability will stun him for a few seconds. After beat the ass off the big guy, he will get angry and all red. Then he will rush towards you. Easy to escape, just be at an open area and circle him when he start running or just don't stop running after he gets all red. Keep these things in mind and he will be down in no time. After the fight you will get a lot of souls and Vengeance Trophy.
