How to unlock the World at your feet achievement in Ori and the Blind Forest - Definitive Guide

Until somebody posts a real solution video some words of advice: This achievement is glitched. It can happen that the progress tracker will stop progressing when you unlock another map stone. Not sure what you can do about that. Make sure to check the progress tracker of this achievement before and after you restore a map stone. If it does not progress, leave the game and try again. Perhaps this might work - not sure about this as my achievement is stuck at 5/8 although I found all stones.

For the achievement itself: You will find map stones on your journey. You need to complete them by finding golden map stone parts. You only have to find one part per stone. Most of them are pretty easy hidden, most of them quite near the respective stones.

Only the final map stone part is tricky to find: In the fire dungeon (the final area of the game) the final map stone is in the central area in a hidden room on one of the left walls (you can find it pretty early in this level, no need to enter any room).

The stone part is found in the top right room of the level. In this room you will come across two spiky platforms which will crush down once you get below them. The map stone part is in a hidden room just where the second spiky platform will crush down.

I'm on 75% with just the last map stone left to find... So I definitely didn't misplace any stones. It's just glitched..

Another +1 that when I was done with Horu it said I was at 7/8. I had a save from a little while before I got to Horu (thankfully) so I went back to it, got to Horu, went straight to the top, got the map piece then back to the map stone. Created a save next to the map stone and put the piece in it and the achievement unlocked. No way of knowing if the one map stone it didn't count was the one in Horu or if it double counted it when I went back and did it again... Thanks to BeatsMeansHighs and SectralWolf for the suggestion to unlock Horu's map stone again.

I thought I was having the same problem. I had started one game and then started a new game after I had found about 5 map stones. When I played my 2nd game I was also doing the speed run so at the end when I loaded up to finish collectibles I had 2 stone map parts and 75% achievement progress. So I put one in Hollow Grove and got no progress though I was sure I had done this one in the first game. Because it didn't work I loaded my game. Then when I went to Mount Horu I went straight to the map thingy and put one of the fragments in, no progress.

So I loaded up my backup and decided to put all the markers in and see what happens. So I put one in Hollow Grove and then I checked every one and found Sunken Glades hadn't been done, that used up my fragments and it did give me progress. Then I went to Mount Horu, got the fragment from Mount Horu and when I put that in the achievement unlocked!

So It seems you need to use the right fragments to get this achievement. Mount Horu only worked when I used the fragment from Mount Horu. Sunken Glades worked because I had never done it before, but I don't know if I mixed and matched with the other 6 so I can't definitively say but anyway I hope it helps.

Strange ... But I only have 4/8 stones tracked in my list. I can't imagine that I used the wrong fragment four times! Just once in the game I had two fragments in the inventory and I used them to the two stones in the area. All other fragments were used in the "correct" stones.

At least NG seems to work ... kind of. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Didn't unlock for me and I think I used the wrong key in the wrong stone early in the game. That may be the issue.

Tracker is stuck on 6/8 for me. Shame the cheevs in this game are so glitchy, I got all map stones for the record.

Having said that, it is likely I mixed up two map stones, didn't realise that was important until just now.

It is glitchy - how should you know that you use the "correct" fragment on the "correct" stone if it is possible to have more than one fragment in the inventory? The achievement description does not tell anything about this either. So it seems the only solution is to check on the progress tracker each time you restore a mapstone and check if it progressed. If not, reload checkpoint and try another map stone.

How can I access the stone stacker?
When I look in the achievement list I only see a %. And not a x/8 counter????

The percentage should tell you how many you have done so far - 12% is one stone, 25% two and so on. For me the progress tracker was kind of weird - it showed me 0% for some things although I did some of them. For the stones I got the halfway achievement exactly where it should have been - after four spirit stones.

Can you get the 100% map achievement without getting all mapstones? I had no shadows left on my map went I went in to mt horu, and I got the map stone in mt horu.

I think the 100% map achievement does not have anything to do with the map stones. It just means exploring the whole map. Do you have 100% in all areas in the game?

The achievement unlocked for me but I kind of missed it unlocking.

I can confirm that retrying unlocking stones works. I was stuck on 87% and tried unlocking the mount horu stone. The achievement did not unlock. I reloaded my game and unlocked it again and the achievement popped.

According to their twitter account a patch is going to be released real soon, but they don't want to commit to a date. I don't mind the fact that the game is glitched cause I'm looking forward to play the game again, it is sooo good, but I'm waiting for the patch. Having the achievement glitch again would be really frustrating.

This achievement was also buggy for me, but I tried the same solution BeatsMeansHighs mentioned and it popped, so try saving just before the last map stone in Mt. Horu to keep retrying

Had the same problem with the achievement not unlocking. I was using a copy of a save file for this chievo and it wouldn't unlock until after i deleted the original save file (that was completed). Hopefully this helps.

Is it an idea to save before each map stone to make sure it registers, and if not, go back??

By NoHeroes94 on 16 Aug 2016 12:09
I've read that, much like the No Stone Unturned glitch, if you do the Mount Huru thing you can do it MULTIPLE times regardless whether you're on 7/8 or 3/8. Phew.

Same here as bitje. I was having issues with it but once I deleted the copied save file it popped for me. Therefore if you have copied save files you have been playing on it might be worth deleting them and trying on the original save file.

This glitched for me and was at 6/8 when I only had one more to get in Mt. Horu. I inserted the map fragment and saw the tracker move up to 7/8. Then I died and came back at the spirit link and inserted the map fragment again and it unlocked a lot like the "secrets" glitch works. Hope this helps someone

My map isn't showing any upgrades, save wells, doors etc. It only shows objective and kindled save. Anyone else run into the same glitch? Its fine on my gf gamer tag, but mine its screwed. Suggestions?

Did you complete a map stone yet? Once you do the map should show a lot of stuff. Many map markers you have to unlock by buying new abilities in the respective ability tree.

I am certain you did not turn off some markers by accident in the map menu (not sure if this is even possible in this game).

This had only registered 3/8 by the time i got to the final one in the volcano, despite me finding and applying the 7 so far, so i saved just before the final map stone in Mount Horu with fragment in hand, then went in to apply the fragment (with chievo snapped to check progress) died, and repeated from last save point and it progressed each time i did this until the achievement popped. It also netted me
Ori and the Blind ForestHalfway ThereThe Halfway There achievement in Ori and the Blind Forest worth 14 pointsRestore 50% of all Map Stones
on the way. Hope this helps.

I was double checking if I had everything before heading into Mount Horu, and noticed it didn't track one. Tried this when I got to the last map stone and was able to count it twice. Thanks a ton for posting this.

Worked for me as well, seems it didn't count one of them on my way to Horu, thanks!

If it is useful to anyone:

My tracker for map stones glitched (like the one for secrets...) and at the end of the game I was still at 75%. Unfortunately the trick given by THE OOZ didn't work for me.

However when I did my 2nd playthrough (no abilities), it unlocked like it was supposed to the first time, in Mount Horu.
Meaning that for the first 6 map stones, the % didn't move. It only increased for the last 2.
So don't panic if the same happens to you.

There are 8 Map fragments across the world that have to be placed into one of the 8 Map Stones in order to unveil the world map of a specific area.

The Map Stone in Forlorn Ruins is missable. This area can't be revisited after you finish it.

I've made a 100% Collectibles video which includes the map stones and is sequenced in the order you would naturally find things in the game. Make sure you grab a map stone fragment from the overworld before entering the Forlorn Ruins as there is a map stone inside that requires a fragment from outside.

Map stones are broken grey structures, and require a corresponding broken fragment (a smaller grey stone with yellow light running through it) to restore them. There are eight total to find. The fragments look like this:

Once you find a fragment, you will need to then locate a deactivated stone to place it in, which will restore its power and update the map of the corresponding area. Inserting a stone will look like this:

Fragment #1: Sunken Glades (0:00); Stone #1: Sunken Glades (0:09)
Fragment #2: Hollow Grove (0:25); Stone #2: Hollow Grove (0:38)
Fragment #3: Moon Grotto (1:20); Stone #3: Moon Grotto (1:36)
Fragment #4: Thornfelt Swamp (2:08); Stone #4: Thornfelt Swamp (2:34)
Fragment #5: Valley of the Wind (2:58); Stone #5: Valley of the Wind(3:22)
Fragment #6: Valley of the Wind (3:10); Stone #6: Forlorn Ruins (3:43)
Fragment #7: Sorrow Pass (4:18); Stone #7: Sorrow Pass (4:55)
Fragment #8: Mount Horu (5:14); Stone #8: Mount Horu (5:23)

There are 8 maps in total, one each in the following locations:

  • Upper bogs
  • Lower bogs
  • Spiny Swamp
  • Moon Cave
  • Valley of the Wind
  • Gorge of Sorrow
  • Ruins of Forlorn
  • Mount Hora
But there is one important point!

Usually map fragments are hidden not far from the map itself, but in the Valley of the Winds location there are TWO map fragments hidden. The secret is that the second fragment is needed for the map in the Ruins of Forlorn location.

Video guide to finding the wreckage.

The achievement is buggy, but can be cured:
1) You need to save before inserting the last piece of the map.
2) Remove the account from the console and add it again.
3) Enter the game, load the save and insert the piece.
4) Profit!

Also, if not all cards have been restored, then you can load the save again and restore the card, then go to another save (where the piece has not yet been inserted), it will be saved. And so on again until the achievement appears
