How to unlock the Take the Bug by the Horn achievement in Ori and the Will of the Wisps - Definitive Guide

The Horn Beetle
-It has a few attacks. The first is to charge at you, as it’s doing so it will lift off the ground, burst dash underneath it. Then hit the orange spot on its behind. The second is a fire spread along the ground, jump and burst over it. The third is jumping in the air, just walk under it and get attacks in. It repeats these attacks over a few minutes. Story-related and cannot be missed.

Horn Beetle is the second boss of the game, encountered in Kwolok's Hollow. Its front and body are invulnerable and only its tail takes damage. The key to winning is making use of the Double Jump and Dash abilities, which Ori must gain prior to the fight. Horn Beetle has two major moves: moving away from Ori and sending out a shockwave (Double Jump and then Dash to jump past it), or closing in and performing three consecutive leap-smashes on Ori (Dash to the opposition direction to avoid being hit). The latter move is what leaves the widest attack window for Ori to attack the tail. Repeat until Horn Beetle is defeated.

Second boss.

The winning strategy is quite simple. The boss has only 3 attacks:
  • Step back for a running start, run and jump on you
  • A series of jumps followed by a blow with a horn
  • Fire wave on the ground
We bypass 1st and 2nd attacks simply by dashing under the boss when he is in a jump. When he flies up, he hovers, which allows us to slip under him and end up behind him. When he lands, his back is open and we just spam the key .
We bypass the 3rd attack by jumping, but NOT JUST UP, but JUMPING A LITTLE FORWARD. This will allow us not to end up next to the boss, but to jump over the moving wave of fire without damage.
