How to unlock the Archaeologist achievement in Outer Wilds - Definitive Guide
Complete the ship log.
This is a fairly intensive achievement as there is A LOT to explore and see within Outer Wilds, but if you explore thoroughly and just have fun figuring out the story, you'll definitely get a majority of the nodes completed.
Here is a list of every node with the number of entries I had that unlocked the achievement (minor updates made to some of these in relation to a comment made by EyeCorporations):

"This achievement is NOT missable. You can still get the achievement even if you don't speak with Hal in the Village at the beginning of the game. This will leave you with only 2 entries in the Village section."
I got the achievement last night, and I can confirm that you don't need that entry. I was stressing about this for a while because I searched the internet to try and figure this achievement out and kept finding comments from random people saying this. There are even comments in this thread which say this - and it's not true. Perhaps it was patched.
You could also add that the Chert section is likely the one that people will miss, because you have to speak to him multiple times and at different stages of the loop. I think you get 2 entries for speaking to him before the 16 minute mark. 1 or 2 entries for speaking to him after the 16 minute mark. And 1 or 2 entries for speaking to him just before the sun goes supernova in the last few minutes. Nobody is going to naturally speak to this guy all of these times, (why would you suspect that this one character has more to say, but only says it at a specific time - lame, I prefer to do everything myself without going to the internet and I had done everything but speak to this guy multiple times).

I have two questions:
1. I have every entry in the game (except for the link between Village and Esker). Every icon in my planetary ship log is in full color except for the sun - the sun is greyed out. Does this have to do with me not obtaining the achievement? Also worth noting that I'm only able to get two out of Gabbro's 4 entries - I'm aware of the patch.
2. Much simpler question: When you beat the game, does your ship log progress get wiped? I'd hate to proceed to the end of the game without the Archaeologist achievement knowing everything will be undone. I'd rest easier knowing I can go ahead, beat the game, and come back to continue troubleshooting Archaeologist.
Thanks!

@Melomonster721 - I can answer your second question. Beating the game does not wipe your ship log - so feel free to go ahead and see the ending and then come back to Archaeologist

There is an amazing 2 part video guide on youtube that shows where to find all the Log entries, planet by planet. It's in Japanese but has caption to explain everything. If you have trouble seeing what is going on, you can slow down the playback speed. Hope this helps!

Excellent. While the other guides here offer some handy tips and a checklist to compare against they're not really helpful in actually finding the log entries, so these videos are much better for those that want to find them quickly and efficiently. I'd been using a text walkthrough on Polygon that pretty much covers everything until now.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about this achievement, so just to clear up a few things:
-There has been issues with unlocking logs related to the character Gabbro. If you believe that you're affected by a bug, contact the devs at support@mobiusdigitalgames.com . IMKevin117 reports that this should be fixed now, once and for all. If the issue still remains for you, contact the devs as previously mentioned.
- There is no point of no return from which you'll lock yourself out of the achievement. The only way to lose progress is to choose to start a new game, or to never enter the loop to begin with.
- Only two logs from the starting village are required. One is missable, but it's not required for the achievement.
- You only need the log entries, the connections between them are not required for the achievement.
- The other solution lists how many entries you need for each location, but pay attention that the list of required entries has changed slightly since the game was released. So using an old list may not work.
You can check video guides if you want complete solutions, but I will list a few places that are likely missed:

You can FINALLY get this achievement in the new update 1.0.4
There was a known bug to where Gabbro didn't release his last 2 dialogue branches when you talk to him to 100% the ships log. The current update 1.0.4 they patched that so now all you need to do is start the cycle again, fly to him, and talk to him. It'll unlock immediately. I got it last night and I'm so happy they fixed it so I wouldn't have to start a new save file.

Thanks IMKevin117 , I’ve added it to the solution. Hopefully it’s fixed for good now :)

More as a supplement to the other guides, there is a site, Outer Wild Ventures, with the entire ship log in rumor mode which can help you find the last few nodes you need.
If you feel like you've been everywhere, the ship log is complete, and the achievement still isn't popping, there's two places you may have missed.
Bramble Island - Connects to Ocean Depths and Feldspar's Camp. On Giant's Deep, there is an island being overtaken by Dark Bramble vines with ghost matter hotspots. There is a campfire with logs that will lead to a one entry node.
Volcanic Testing Site - Connects to Nomai Mines. Hollow's Lantern is the volcanic moon orbiting Brittle Hollow. Go into landing mode and line yourself up with the volcano on the north pole, then back to cockpit mode and match velocity. Wait for the volcano to erupt, then exit the ship and jetpack in. There is a projection wall here with a nearby stone that will activate this node and all three entries.

This can be considered as the most time-consuming trophy of the game: you need to complete the ship log with all the informations around the world.
Each planet and moon has information and since your main objective is to find them, there is a high chance that you will get enough of them during your normal playthrough.
You will get information by:

You will get information by:
- speaking with people (sometimes also in different times on the same loop)
- reading messages
- reaching some areas
Remember: if you see some yellow * near a log, it means you still have to find data on that area.

I would like to point out a few things:
1. Flint (the guy who sits at the Hour of Coal) gives different log updates depending on the time at which you talk to him, so if you fly to him, start talking and meditating by the fire, as you approach the end of the loop, his dialogues will be change
2. The gravity gun at the Hour of Coal does not provide information about the fact that it is affected by the energy field. To do this, you need to fly to the void sphere and launch your ship from the gravitational gun on the void sphere

The last recording I had (and judging by the Internet for half of the others) turned out to be a recording from the volcanic moon of a void planet; towards the end of the loop, the lava settles and you can fly into one of the volcanoes, where the next namai recordings will be.
PS The arrows (rumors) are not important, I didn’t have half of the arrows at all.

Under the landing site (underwater) next to the mines on Kamelka there are also notes that are needed for the trophy.

Comparing a list is, of course, good, but what to do if you don’t know how to get any entry or you’re just tired and want to finish quickly.
