How to unlock the Cutting it Close achievement in Outer Wilds - Definitive Guide
Once in space, eject from your pod. Fly around until you use all your fuel. At this point, your suit will automatically start using your O2 as fuel. Achievement should pop just before you die and respawn.

Did not work for me the first time. I did it a second time and it worked fine.

Land on The Attlerock. With your spacesuit on, exit the ship. Stand underneath your ship but do not touch the purple tractor beam/lift, just face towards it. Use your jetpack to propel yourself upwards against the undercarriage of your ship, until you deplete all of your jetpack fuel. Now you should be using oxygen as a propellant. When the warning for 60 seconds of oxygen pops up on the screen, and still propelling with your jetpack, move to the tractor beam/lift so you go back on board your ship. This should only just save you from dying of oxygen depletion. Achievement unlocked.

I jammed myself under one of the landing arms and held R/A to deplete. Achievement popped without me boarding the ship, I think you just need to use a bit of your final oxygen to propel yourself nearby the ship? I have definitely been lost in space using oxygen as propellant until I died and did not pop this.

This particular achievement seems to be bugged. As far as I can tell, you just need to use O2 as a propellant and any point. I got this achievement as soon as I ran out of fuel but I tried getting it the 60 second method and I've definitely run out of fuel in deep space before. Just keep trying and eventually it'll pop.

I've got a slightly different solution, but it worked for me. Basically, I think the point of the achievement is not to get back in the ship just in the nick of time, but to waste a majority of your oxygen as fuel for your suit. Here's how I did it:
1. Get to The Attlerock
2. Get out of the ship and bounce around using your suit's thrusters
3. When your fuel is almost out, stop flying around (and if you're planning on doing other things this loop, get near the ship)
4. Without moving around, hold down LT to thrust into the ground, burning the remainder of your fuel
5. Continue holding LT and deplete your oxygen supply as fuel
6. When you get about 80-90% through your oxygen, the achievement should pop

This video was recorded in Portuguese but it gives you a visual reference of Dragonata's solution. Simply waste your fuel and let the oxygen get to less than 60 seconds, go up to your ship and the achievement should pop.
Another easy trophy and probably the first you will unlock during your journey: Wait for the fuel in your space suit to deplete and then start depleting your oxygen.
When it ends, you will die and unlock the trophy.
When it ends, you will die and unlock the trophy.
The achievement will unlock once you reach the 3 minutes remaining mark. You could either take off in the ship and leave the atmosphere, get out and waste up your fuel until you start using oxygen. Or you could get your suit and use the geyser near the ghost matter to launch yourself into space. You can also use your fuel to explore Timber Hearth to complete the ship log.
Being underwater hardly uses oxygen even if you ran out of fuel on Timber Hearth, coming into atmosphere and the ship refills your oxygen. Using the health pack on the ship refills your fuel as well. I hope this helps.

When the fuel runs out, the character flies using oxygen (in the spacesuit) and when the oxygen runs out, the achievement will be yours!

When the fuel runs out, the backpack begins to use oxygen (not very efficiently). It is worth filling a full supply of oxygen and using it for a while, flying as high as possible on some planet with low gravity. I was able to win a trophy at the Hour of Coal

It is best to shoot in locations with weightlessness and the presence of oxygen (there will be several of these in the game). We fly back and forth until we get the trophy. It will take quite a long time to fly.
