How to unlock the Deep Impact achievement in Outer Wilds - Definitive Guide
Hit Giant's Deep REALLY fast to break through the current. I locked on and went away to about 170km then turned around and accelerated straight towards it. Make sure to keep the dotted lines to a minimum while moving towards otherwise you might fly past it; they show when you've matched the heading of your target. Once I got below the current (but not below the electric core) it unlocked. Requires a tiny bit of luck since if there's an island or the probe launcher in the way you won't be able to avoid it at the speed you require.
Edit: This may also work. Fly into a counter clockwise vortex. Those ones push you down. I already had achievement from first thing so not sure if this counts.
Edit: Sounds like cyclone method doesn't work, have to use speed method.

I got this achievement on accident and I think it was easier than what is suggested here. On Ember Twin there is a gravity cannon which can be easy to find from space. Go there and recall the ship. Then get in the ship, and when the Giant's Deep is in the right spot in the sky, launch the ship using the ships controls (move the orb to the left position). You'll drive straight into it. I went straight through, with the ship somehow getting obliterated throwing me into space at a crazy fast speed with no hope of coming back. If you miss, just move the orb to the center and it takes you back to the gravity cannon where you can try again.

I got it at 235km hitting it dead on

Below is a full video guide with detailed commentary.
You need to obtain the Launch Codes and take off in your ship. Then you need to locate the planet Giant's Deep. Now you need to get to approximately 450kms away from the planet and approach the planet from that distance in order to work up enough speed to break through the current.
Make sure you lock onto the planet and keep aligned with the planet by making sure there are little or no white dots during your approach (as shown in the video).
Hitting the planet on the right angle and with enough speed will unlock the achievement.

450km away did the trick. Thanks!

This is a great video and a great demonstration. You really, REALLY need to make sure you hit the planet dead center, as hitting it even slightly obliquely will cause you to be thrown around the current and out the other "side". The targeting demo here really helped.
Only other thing I can add is when you fly away from the planet, make sure you're lined up (relatively) with the equator and not a pole. The superstorms at the poles will throw you sideways, knocking your trajectory off and voiding the attempt (or worse, if you're dead center of the storm, you'll hit the Quantum Tower and die...)

The impact velocity is directly proportional to the FPS of the console you're playing on. For the PC and the Series X after the September update, the old guides no long are accurate for velocity and distance to impact.
There is a far easier solution for all versions of the game.
Firstly, get in your ship and fly to Giant's Deep. Once you're on the planet you'll see islands being blasted into orbit and back down again. Fly to any of these islands on the underside and land/crash/impact the surface on the lowest part of the island (the part that would be eventually the deepest part of the landmass when it's submerged). After a moment the island will start falling down and take you with it. Once the island has settled back in the ocean, you'll be beneath the currents about 300m from the centre of the planet. Just thrust directly to the core. Achievement unlocked.

Yep, this is how I got it.
I landed on Gabbro's island and waited for it to be picked up, then when in space quickly moved to underneath it holding downward thrust to stick, then unlocked the achievement when landing even though my ship is completely stuck here.

Here's a video for those who prefer one:
I started accelerating directly toward giant's deep at 365km away, was going over 5000 m/s when I hit, that was enough for me to punch through to the core. Just make sure you have it targeted and theres no horizontal or vertical velocity before you hit.
Super easy method: use the landing camera!
Click left stick to make Giant’s Deep your target. Then get in the air and switch to landing camera view. It will automatically keep the planet centered below you.
Mash the up thrust button for several minutes (I went about 500km out) then let go and hold down the down thrust button until you reverse course and start heading downwards. The landing camera mode will keep you aimed right at the planet without needing any adjustments from you at all. You’ll punch right through the middle.

NO SPOILERS
This achievement has a two main solutions which are described below. If one doesn't work for you then try the other. I personally used option 2 to earn this one.
Tips:
-Practice flying the ship until you are comfortable with controlling it.
-Use the velocity guides in the ship (dotted white arrows around a targeted body) to figure out your alignment.
-The typhoons will cancel out all your momentum so you have to get lucky with where you impact the planet.
Guide to Deep Impact Achievement: Method 1
-Start by climbing the elevator and taking off in the ship. Target Giant's Deep.
- While facing the planet, backward thrust away from it until you are a good distance away. I have seen some people get as little as 300km away and have this work, but the more the better.
-Once you are far enough away, start accelerating towards the planet. Keep the Velocity guides as close to zero as you can so you don't miss it.
-Crash into the planet. If you avoid all typhoons and islands then you should plunge straight through the undercurrent and unlock the achievement.
Guide to Deep Impact Achievement: Method 2
-Start by climbing the elevator and taking off in the ship. Head towards Giant's deep.
-When you arrive, head towards the smaller typhoons and find an island nearby. There should be a blue gravity spot on it. Land your ship on this spot and wait for the typhoon to contact the island.
-The island will be thrown into low orbit. Quickly take off in the ship and move to the coral-covered bottom of the island. Orient yourself with the "roll" mechanic so that you are sitting with your escape hatch on the bottom of the island.
-Ride the island back down into the planet. when it crashes into the sea, it should push you through the current. You can use your boosters to give you an extra bit of speed if you need it. This should unlock the achievement.
Congratulations on earning the Deep Impact Achievement!

Location: Giant's Deep
Time: Anytime
Special note: None
To be able to break through the current of Giant's Deep, you must impact it with a speed of over 7000 m/s. Start by flying in the space and target Giant's Deep. Once you did, start reversing thrust until you reach a negative speed between -5000 m/s and -6000 m/s (the higher, the better).
After that, start thrusting through the planet. Keep the trajectory centered on it and once you enter the sea, you will reach the core of the planet.

There's a third way to do this which I personally found much easier and more consistent than the other options, but can only be done at a specific point in the loop.
Roughly 11 minutes into the loop, Giant's Deep lines up with the gravity cannon on Brittle Hollow. If you launch the nomai shuttle from there into Giant's Deep, the barrier current doesn't load in quickly enough and you pass right through it! I can personally confirm that this does award the achievement as well.
Step-By-Step Procedure:
1) Start a new loop and sleep through the first 8-9 minutes.
2) Navigate to Brittle Hollow's gravity cannon.
3) Recall the Nomai shuttle and get inside.
4) When Giant's Deep moves into the middle of your view, pull the left switch on the nomai shuttle controls to launch the shuttle.
5) Don't touch anything else, just wait.
If you timed your launch correctly, you will fly straight into the core of the planet! Thankfully Giant's Deep is quite large and has strong enough gravity that you don't need to be very precise with your launch timing. Still, if you do miss the planet, simply try again in the next loop.
I got this method from a two-minute video which you can find here:

Wait on an island, get sucked into space, go under the island, once it lands it should push you through the barrier and give the achievement. I got this on accident on my first playthrough lol.

It is enough to fly 450 km.

flew away 1200 km, the main thing is to look at the arrows - if they appear, remove them, this will help you get clearly to the center of the planet

As stated above, 450 kilometers is NOT ENOUGH for you. I flew at a speed of 8000 km/h, having flown 700 kilometers, and was unable to fall through to the core. BUT I offer you an easier way.
1) We fly to the Giant’s Deep and look for this island.
2) We land on a magnetic pad and wait for vortices, tornadoes, tornadoes, as you prefer.
3) After you have been thrown into outer space, fly out of this area and, turning over, fly to the bottom of this island, and then land on the highest surface where there is a tree. BE SURE to hold down the flight button to stick to that bottom.
5) Wait for the moment when the island falls and pushes you under the current.

To do this you need to accelerate VERY MUCH. A speed of 8 thousand m/s will be sufficient. To perform the trick you need to fly outside the system for a long time. Video guide .
