How to unlock the Hotshot achievement in Outer Wilds - Definitive Guide
You can take a direct approach to fly to the Sun Station, which I found faster and easier to get consistently right.
Notes that accompany the video clip:
1. Head up to your ship, suit up, buckle in and take off towards the Sun. You want to stay fast and low otherwise you risk the Moon interfering with your flight path. Once you spot the Sun, lock onto it, aim for the centre and continue full thrust straight towards it.
2. After the Sun Station is in full view rounding the horizon of the Sun, you want to roll to the right ( (hold) + ). You want Dark Bramble planet in the top centre of your view, and the lateral movement vector of the Sun visible on the left of screen and fairly steady. You also need to maintain full forward thrust while you do this.
3. You should now be aiming towards the top quarter of the Sun and you accelerate until your approach velocity reaches about 400-450 m/s, then release thrust. When you release thrust, you may notice your approach velocity will decrease - that is ok, you don't need to maintain it.
4. Now wait 1-2 seconds, you should spot the Sun Station coming into view below you. Once the Station and you are passing over the top point of the Sun you can then begin your descent into orbit.
5. Descend by using down thrust (). When you start getting close, release the down thrust momentarily, to avoid crashing into the Sun. Your forward velocity will be slightly fast so that you can catch up to the Station and this should also take you higher off the surface, but you can also up thrust a bit if you need to. You'll need to reverse thrust a bit to slow down, and then continue the down thrust to bring you into low orbit with the Station.
6. Once you're close to the Station you want to position the ship just above the doorway on the left. You need to match the speed and orbit of the Station as close as you can. The autopilot 'match velocity' does not really work for this, so it's better to do it manually. You can take your time at this point, since you should remain in reasonably close orbit with the Station.
7. When you feel confident the movement is matched, unbuckle and open the hatch. You need to do this quickly because it is unlikely that your ship will stay in perfect orbit by itself, and you risk getting stuck in your ship, or flung too far from the Station.
8. Once you've exited the ship, spot the Station doorway and fly yourself into it. The achievement will unlock once you set foot inside.

That was FkN intense! 😂 took me quite awhile but right when I was about to break my controller I made it in the ship! Appreciate it! Couldn’t imagine trying the other method. What really helped was just playing the game and getting the flight controls down and learning how the gravity pulls and reacts to your ships movements and it’s speed. Incredibly frustrating but seriously satisfying once inside!

Ugh, got closer than I've gotten only to be constantly thrown around the ships interior and into space.

Manually land at Sun Station
The Sun Station can be found orbiting the Sun at fairly high speed, making the landing very difficult. After looking at the comments/videos posted by fallouthirteen below, I've unlocked this achievement with some skill and a whole lot of patience haha
As per the comment by fallouthirteen
As the Sun Station approaches you, start to match speed with it, if you're in a good orbit you should only have to mainly worry about speed matching the station, and very mildly keeping yourself from getting sucked into the sun.
Once you're lined up and are able to maneuver your ship right near the Sun Station, you should look into the open doorway and click the Left Stick so you can Match Velocity with that entryway.
Once you think you've got everything lined up nicely and you're moving at the same pace, go ahead and unbuckle and try to open the hatch, if you pop out and can manage to jetpack your way to the door way, the achievement will be yours!
Here is a video of my approach to the Sun Station and matching speed with the doorway: https://gamerdvr.com/gamer/ch1ps/video/85105675
Extra thanks again to fallouthirteen for the awesome videos found in the comments to this solution (they were wiped, see above edit), definitely give them a look if you're struggling!

You just have to board it not really "land" on it. Just orbit in front of it and make sure the floor of the ship is pointed at the station so that you don't get flung to the side of the ship. Then get out and jetpack to it. It's actually pretty easy once you know how to.
Very helpful! (The videos are also especially helpful) But here is my advice. As you approach the Sun, you're going to want to have the Sun Station orbiting HORIZONTALLY (I did mine with it orbiting clockwise or left around the Sun). Get yourself into a nice orbit at around 2700m like suggested below and make sure your horizontal movement is pretty significant but your up and down movement is minimal. As the Sun Station approaches you, start to match speed with it, if you're in a good orbit you should only have to mainly worry about speed matching the station, and very mildly keeping yourself from getting sucked into the sun.

Just did it again to get some clips. You can even see about the inputs I use to adjust thanks to thrust indicator on the ship.
Approach - https://xboxclips.com/fallouthirteen/22ce0e28-689b-4eff-95cc...
Another approach I did earlier (when I thought you had to land on it) - https://xboxclips.com/fallouthirteen/f343e2fa-467e-45e8-be84...
Boarding (even botched it a bit by hitting something) - for some reason this isn't appearing on clips yet.
Escape (not needed but still fun) - https://xboxclips.com/fallouthirteen/ea0faab4-9ed3-4e04-bc49...
But yeah, really trick is to get into low orbit first (about 2700 m). Then adjust to orbit in roughly the same area as the station. Then either speed up or slow down to "catch" it. Then you just ease yourself in front, spin a bit to make escape easy, and jump out. If you did that well you should be able to jetpack straight to the hatch.
Another strategy I think might work (haven't tested it) is to get in front and eject into it. I just tried that and it worked but that clip isn't appearing either. I'll comment again when they finally show up.

Ive try for 4 hours yesterday and never was able to land. the control for the spaceship on this game are broken.

Couple of things that helped me get it:
I found that approaching the sun with a vertical rotation instead of a horizontal one is much easier. Your brain is probably more accustomed to the flight controls this way, whereas doing it horizontally means you have to adjust your perspective on the controls in addition to the crazy hard orbit.
After taking off from timber hearth, roll the ship clockwise until the bramble is above the sun. This will get you aligned with a near-perfect vertical orbit for the station. Its about a 110 degree rotation clockwise.
Getting the orbit right just takes practice. With the vertical orbit, lock on to the sun, generally keep your crosshair pointed at the horizon line, get up to ~375m/s, then drop acceleration. 375 is roughly the orbital speed of the station from what I could tell. Use the up/down trigger thrusters to maintain your orbit; just like in real life, orbiting is just falling, so that's what it will feel like. Using the downward thrusters feels very weird, like you're trying to crash into the sun, but they're necessary to counteract your forward thrusters.
You'll want to apply small pulses of forward thrust to catch up with the station (and backward if you're approaching too fast, of course). But don't do this until you feel like your altitude is stable and you have control with the up/down thrusters. Any time you apply forward thrust, combine it with a downward thrust. Vice-versa for backward; combine it with an upward thrust. This will help avoid the orbit slingshotting you into space (or straight into the sun). It just takes practice.
You can lock on to the main building of the station once you're close enough (left side if you approach from behind). Do this. As soon as you do, you can of course match velocity. Every time you match velocity, hit that button again, because the velocity of the station is constantly changing. Orbits, space physics, etc. Mash the match velocity button every few seconds.
Position the ship in-between the two structures, facing the interior door/hallway of the large structure. There are two big chevron arrows on it. If you need to, just ram straight into the hallway to help stabilize yourself (you can't actually get the ship into it, but its a nice little hole that helps maintain your stability). Keep the thrusters engaged pushing you against the structure until you feel confident enough to back off a bit. Continue matching velocity non-stop, especially once you back off.
There's some debris between the two stations, so don't back off too far. Like, just back off a wee little bit. This debris tends to move and rotate, so just because you're safe right now doesn't mean you will be in 10 seconds. Because of this, after you back off, continue matching velocity and just wait a few seconds to make sure your distance is stable. Don't worry about rolling. You want your crosshairs pointed down the hallway, maybe biased a little to the "bottom" of the door.
Once the distance feels stable, you can wait until the station is "upright" (relative to your ship). Then, unbuckle, and immediately hit that eject button. If you're lucky and you positioned it right, you'll go flying straight down the hallway and earn the achievement.
Its not easy. I've seen videos of people do it without the eject button, but from my experience its just way way too difficult; the eject button is much easier. You can't reliably "land" the ship anywhere outside of the station. The moment you let off the thrust keeping you pinned to the station your ship is going to float away, so it becomes a race to get to the hatch before you're too far out of orbit. Moreover, the player velocity inheritance after you leave the ship doesn't feel "right", like you aren't totally matched up with the ship velocity. So, better to just not worry about that and eject straight down the hallway.

This is the solution that helped the most, however I accidentally ejected my cockpit so it was wedged in the entrance, blocking my way into the station. To shift it loose I had to leave the cockpit section, put my back to it on the outside and used the counter propulsion of a scout launch to apply force, which managed to shift it free. I love that this actually worked, the physics in this game are such a joy

Thanks for the tips. I got this in the end ejecting in. Great game.

Having tried several methods to get out the ship and reach the door, I was pretty much pulling my hair out. I couldn't eject in time without getting stuck in my ship due to G-Force. Or by the time I ejected my ship had left the space station and I was drifting off into a Solar Demise
With a lot of good practise you can get quite good at matching the stations orbit path by rolling with 'LB' and getting with the trajectory of the station.
After gently following the station and waiting for it to come back around to me from the rear I then found that it is possible to wedge your ship in the Wrought iron off-shoots of the debris floating there, giving you plenty of time to unbuckle and wait to be in the right spot to leave your ship normally, lock on to the only door, match velocity with 'A' and make your way over. Like the other methods it may take some practise. But I hope this might help for gamers that were stuck like me. Here is the video of my success.
Good Luck.

NO SPOILERS
This is one of the harder achievements to earn in this game. I would recommend doing this after getting significant practice with flying the ship.
Tips:
-Practice flying in low orbit around the sun without crashing into it. (description below)
-Don't forget to use the "roll" mechanic on your ship to better orient yourself.
-Have patience and expect to take multiple attempts at this.
-I used a game pad to achieve this.
-Try to do this quickly as you will have limited time after starting a run.
Guide to Hotshot Achievement:
-Spawn and climb up the elevator to the ship. Take off and start heading towards the sun.
-Take a look at the sun and when you spot the sun station, "Roll" your ship so that the station is orbiting from the bottom of your screen to the top.
-Approach the sun at a medium speed, aiming for the top horizon. The sun's gravity will pull you both forward and downward, so in order to increase and change your speed, you really just need to use you upward and downward thrusters. getting close the the sun increases your speed, so just let that happen and start thrusting away so that you "miss" the sun and carry your speed forward.
-Keep doing this until the sun station makes a full orbit while heading away from you. You can quickly pan your vision down to see if it is coming.
-When the sun station starts to come underneath you, do your best to try and match it's velocity. This is a very tricky thing to do but just keep letting the sun pull you forward. If you use your forward boosters too much you may lose control and be unable to slow down and be ejected from the sun's orbit. If you miss it, just wait for another orbit and try again.
-When you get close the sun station's velocity (that is, the same speed and the same direction of travel) try and land on the bright orange teleportation symbol. Use your downward boosters to hold yourself against it.
-Carefully adjust your ship so that it is pointing across the station at the nearby open door. You must enter this door while outside of the ship in order to get the achievement. You can actually lock onto the door while in the ship and this will make it easier to enter.
-Take off and try to start approaching the door. When you can, lock onto the door and use the "match speed" utility to stay with it. Constantly try to move and match speed as you get closer and closer. It can sometimes help to also use the "Roll" mechanic to maintain your orientation. When you are in front of the door, try to orient so that the ship's bottom is facing the door and use your downward booster to hold yourself against it.
-When you are ready, try to exit the ship. do it quickly because sometimes you will not have gravity anymore while in your ship and the centrifugal forces will shove you to the ceiling. When you exit the hatch, be sure to still be locked on to the door. Match speed with the door outside the ship and gently float your way inside. Once you are in the achievement should pop.
Congratulations on earning the Hotshot Achievement!

Location: Orbit around the Sun, Sun Station
Time: early in the game, before the Sun Station collapse
Special note: hard trophy. To unlock this, you must land at the sun station and then go inside by foot.
This is the hardest trophy of the game. The sun station is very small and is too near to the sun, so you have to find the perfect orbit and speed trying to avoid being sucked in by the gravity of the Sun. Also, the sun station can't be locked on, so it's quite hard to understand the correct speed to have in order to be able to land on it.

- Target the sun and try to stay at a distance of between 3100mt and 2500mt.
- For the speed, try to correct it by matching the speed of the Station. It is all trial and error
- Once you manage to land on the orange circular platform, keep pressing for downward thrust and try to line the cockpit of the ship with the door entrance (it is in the opposite structure, under a big dome).
- Exit the ship and navigate through the space to reach the entrance. This can be harder than landing the ship

The achievement is really difficult; I never managed to get into the station through the hatch. Either I didn’t have time to get out at all and I started to be thrown against the walls, or I got out and flew into outer space almost immediately. In the end, I decided to try to eject.
Here's a video.

You can eject without leaving the saddle. Hold down the down arrow on the joystick and aim at the ejection button.

I did it as in the video from Kamikadze, BUT I selected the speed and flight path like this:
1. Focus on the sun
2. We approach slowly, turning the board so that it is parallel to the solar station
3. We move to the left gradually approaching the Sun.
The point here is to catch the rhythm. The sun attracts you and all you need to do is enter the solar orbit. Those. Moving only to the left, you need to set the speed of the board so that when you release the sticks, your board rotates around the Sun almost independently. I was flying at about 3000 meters from the sun. When you can enter orbit, all that remains is to adjust the board with movements to the left and right, thereby you will either approach or move away from the sun due to your orbital speed. Thanks to the range and speed of approaching the Sun, you can easily adjust your speed. The main thing is to do everything smoothly and slowly. If you over-throttle a little, you won’t have time to roll back. Work by numbers and not by feelings! Thus, flying the next circle, adjust the board up and down to exit parallel to the orbit of the solar station. As soon as you see it in front of you, gradually (a little in advance) move forward. It is very important not to move sideways, otherwise you will exceed or drop too much speed and burn out.
As soon as you are near the solar station, I understand the game helps and it becomes easier there.

The most important thing is to move in orbit (the physics of space objects in the game is cool), do not try to land the ship vertically, this is not possible.
When approaching the station, there is an unobvious target at the very entrance. You can (and even need to) take it and “match the speeds”, this will make landing very much easier.

Video hint
First, fly to the Hour of Ash and teleport from there to the solar station, study it, which will allow you to mark the station through the logbook on your next attempts. This will help you navigate better.
