How to unlock the You've met a terrible fate. achievement in Outer Wilds - Definitive Guide

In the High Energy Lab, you can slide an energy ball to open a window in the wall. Then take 2 warp cores, one black and one white, on the right wall and put them in the slots under the window. This will create a black hole and a white hole in front of you. If you launch your probe in the black hole, it will exit via the white hole.

Next, power the two cores by sliding the energy ball behind you upstairs. Your probes will now exit the white hole before they enter the black hole.

To unlock the achievement, you must launch your probe, and remove the black warp core before the probe enters the black hole but after it has exited via the white hole. This will create two versions of your probe. And voilà, you broke the universe !

High Energy Lab is found on the Ember Twin where those massive structures with the 4 "petal" like solar panels.

Are there any shortcuts into HEL? I know of the shortcut to sunless city (behind gravity cannon) but waiting for that passage to fill with sand to get over the cacti is annoying.

Fantastic guide, once I got into the High Energy Lab I got this without issue.

It's probably important to note that if you go for this whilst trying to achieve the Archaeologist achievement, that it will reset your progress unless you are able to quit out and delete your local save in time.

My progress didn't reset. I would've reset the game being installed. Thanks

I quit to dashboard during the credits and was able to resume with everything still in my log.

Can confirm as Dogs In Bushes said, nothing gets reset. There’s no way to lose progress in this game without starting a new game (or never starting the time loop).

A more detailed explanation, because the wording within the game could be confusing to some (and raised my heartrate for a minute or so):

When you break the fabric of the universe and it says there's no going back, all it is referring to is that you broke out of the time loop and the game ends; the end-credits with a cute/sad kazoo version of theme song roll. You can watch the full credits or exit out. Your save game, however, is still intact and you can start over exactly where you left off having not lost any progress.

The goal of this achievement is to create a paradox.

Thanks to the most recent patch, you can now
thanks to the Ash Twin Project, which will pop the achievement at the end of the following time loop

What you will want to do is head to Ash Twin once the second set of buildings (two towers with a broken roof and bridge) are surfaced and head inside the broken tower. Once Ember Twin is overhead, jump into the warp pad to go to the core of the Ash Twin Project.

Open up the center (where you find the warp core), turn off the gravity, and wait until the end of the loop. Once the sun goes supernova a black hole will appear in the center. Jump in.

You will be returned to Timber Hearth at the start of the next loop.
Follow the same process as above to get to the core of the Ash Twin Project, and lo and behold

but after
you can just go about the rest of your loop however you like.

Once the sun goes supernova, you will have broken the universe.
Achievement should pop soon after
.

Good Luck!

I don't even think you have to go back to the ATP. You should just be able to die, or meditate to the end of the loop - anything except repeating your action that started the paradox. Note that, like every other ending, you can continue on afterward as if it's the start of a normal loop, although it says "Load Previous Save" instead of its normal "Resume Expitition."

Also worth noting: the fastest way to do this is to start by killing off 15 minutes or so at the starting campfire, so that you aren't waiting so long at the ATP.

This is my favorite ending. Mainly because of the kazoos.

Puck is right, once you go through the black hole and start again you can just die to get it.

SPOILERS AHEAD

This is an easy achievement. I got it on my first try. To access the area where you can complete this, you must be fast after starting a session so do this all immediately.

Guide to You've met a terrible fate Achievement:

-Immediately take off in your ship and head to the Ember Twin. Land near the crashed ship with the blue beam of light shooting out beside it.

-Enter the ship and exit the back into the caves. Turn left and work your way through the caves. follow the paths described by the inscriptions until you reach the Sunless City.

-Float down to the oxygen area with the four light orbs and turn on the one labelled High Energy Lab.

-Quickly Descend down to the bottom of the pit and open the High Energy Lab door with the light orb and enter it.

-Follow the blue cable until you reach an impassable falling sand part with cactuses behind it on a cliff. Wait here until the sand raises high enough to cover the cactuses and proceed further into the tunnels.

-Navigate the tunnels until you reach the High Energy Lab. A good rule of thumb is to follow the trails with cacti.

-Once in the lab, open the large horizontal window with a light orb. Place a black and white hole from the storage on the right into the slots below the window.

-Run up the stairs behind you and drag the light orb in the floor toward the window side. As we learn in the story

-When you have both a black and white hole in front of you out the window, fire your scout launcher at the black hole. Quickly remove the black hole from the slot below the window while it is halfway (but not all the way) through the black hole.

-This should
and earn you the achievement

Congratulations on earning the You've met a terrible fate Achievement!

Location: Ember Twin, High Energy Lab
Time: early in the game or the laboratory entrance will be locked
Special note: before doing this, be sure to get It belongs in a museum! trophy_gold.png

To get this trophy, you must trigger the universe destruction by destroying the law of physics. Inside the High Energy Lab, you will see a wall with two rombos merging. Start by giving power to that wall and open it using the sphere at the left side of the wall.
Now, take one "Black Hole" stone from the wall at the right and put inside one slot. Do the same thing with the "White Hole". Now, you will have a black and a white hole inside the cave behind the big wall.

Now, as quick as possible, throw a scout inside the black hole and quickly remove one of the stones before it reaches the exit.

Universe destroyed, trophy unlocked.

To get this trophy you need to get to the Energy Laboratory at the Hour of Coal. There are white and black holes fixed on the wall; you need to insert two into the wall on the left and open the damper. After this, the energy from the generator must be directed towards the damper and a probe must be launched into the black hole. This will create the effect of a new probe appearing before the old one disappears.
To get the achievement, you need to remove the black hole as soon as the second probe appears from the white one.

You can also hover near the energy core in the “hour of ashes” project and wait until the sun explodes.
This will create a clone of you (it will remain after restarting in the "hour of ashes").
After rebirth, just die and your.

in the “hour of ashes” project we wait for the end of the cycle and jump into a black hole that appears a couple of seconds before the universe explodes.
This will create a clone of the GG, with whom you can even chat. Survive the next loop without dying and the trophy is yours.

The second, less interesting, but faster option. In the laboratory at the Hour of Coal, we switch all the power to black holes, launch the scout into the black hole and quickly turn off the installation. You should get two scouts and the paradox of space and time - the trophy is yours.
