How to unlock the Inventor's Almanac achievement in OUTRIDERS - Definitive Guide

Mods are acquired by dismantling an item with a mod. Not sure if there are other ways.

Hovering over the dismantle option will show the resources and mods obtained from dismantling marked items. This helps deciding to sell or dismantle.

Edit:
@Good mentions another way to locate the mods you need in the comments:
"If it has the little square looking thing beside the mod means you already have the mod so just sell that one!"

Edit 2:
The little square thing is also visible when selecting a reward so pay attention to it to get an item with a mod you need.

@Good saw this today looked in game and now my percentage is flying up. I'd recommend it being added to the solution so it's not missed.

Damn I’ve been selling everything since getting the achievement for dismantling 300 items and was wondering who’s this tracker wasn’t moving. Back to dismantling I go.

Sold all green and grey. Sharded all blue until I had all Tier 1 mods. Purple and Gold are all shard only, never sell.

This strategy also helped me get the achievements for 300 dismantle and 300 sell.

If you are short of mods, buy equipment and dismantle it

You can also upgrade to rare to epic for a choice of 3 random mods to pick ones you don't have before dismantling. This requires titanium.

Any item that is blue (rare) or higher (purple and yellow) can have mods installed. If you dismantle these items, you will learn the ability to craft this mod and add it to other equipment. You should dismantle every blue or above item until you unlock this achievement. Mods come in three tiers, and each tier of a mod type counts separately toward this achievement. As mentioned in the description, they have to be unique mods, so dismantling two items with the same mod will only count once.

As stated under the Selling and Dismantling trophies (Hard Bargainer trophy_bronze.png and One Man's Junk... trophy_bronze.png), dismantling for Mods should take priority over selling items. There are 406 Mods available in the game but you'll need to play through on all 4 Classes to get those. You'll get more than the 125 required for this trophy playing on just one. You can check your progress towards this trophy by going to the Accolade menu and checking under Item Management.

Only items that are of blue/rare quality or higher will have Mods that you can dismantle for. When you're looking at an item, you can tell if you have the Mod already or not as there will be a grid next to it.

Using the image above as the example, the "Pants on Fire" Mod has already been collected but the "Martial Arts" Mod has not since it's missing the grid icon. Whenever you're about to sell an item, be sure to check for this icon beforehand. If you need the mod, dismantle it. If you don't, by all means sell it if you need the money. You won't get to 125 until pretty well into the game but as soon as you've unlocked your 125th, the trophy will unlock. The 125 includes both weapon and armor mods of any tier (I, II or III).

You receive a modification to the collection when dismantling weapons and equipment. If in the modification description there is a black square with 4 dots in the upper right corner, then you already have this modification.

Just take apart the blue and purple things and over time the achievement will be unlocked.

How to understand which skill you already have and which you don’t?

In the upper right corner of the modification, when you look at the item, there is this square with four compartments:
  • If it is present on a modification, it means you already have this modification in your bank.
  • If there is no square, then feel free to take it apart to achieve it.

There are 3 levels of modifications, 1 - blue things, 2 - purple, 3 - gold. Once you collect all level 1 mods, you don’t have to check blue items

The total number of modifications you have unlocked/purchased can be controlled in the Rewards / Actions with Items / Modification Collector section.
