How to unlock the Legend achievement in OutRun Online Arcade - Definitive Guide

Thanks to Colbadiah777 for the following information:
If the player going for the win FAILS to reach one of the goals in time it will break their winning streak along with this the player losing cannot quit out as this also breaks the winning streak.

Set up a multiplayer match and either setup 2 public slots and wait for someone to join and ask them to boost or set up a private match with either a friend or someone who wants to boost on the site
Then win 5 times in a row, the loser does not need to race but is recommended so they can learn the tracks.

The MP for this game is dead now so you can create a gaming session here.

Evidently, if the player going for 5 wins in a row does not finish a race in time it will break the win streak and he/she will have to start over. The designated loser can indeed just sit at the start line but it may be a good idea to tag along behind the winner to become more familiar with the track in order to reduce the likelihood of getting a DNF (did not finish) when it is the loser's turn to win.

Also, if the player not going for the achievement quits out, it does not seem to do anything in terms of contributing wins to the other player and may actually break the other player's win streak as well. Lastly, it seems that choosing the left path every time results in an easier route than the right-hand paths.

just a few extra pointers: i was hosting and the other guy got the chevo for winning 5 in a row.

and on number 4 of 5 i didnt make it to the goal but he did and it popped as well.

so whoever's losing doesnt have to play at all.

A few tips:

1. Make sure you host the game so there can be no possible issues with not winning the races in one session.

2. If you haven't done so already make sure you know how to drift by using a manual gearbox - it is identical to a brake drift except you are pressing different buttons so it is completely trivial, it isn't like other driving games where manual gearboxes mean re-learning the game. Basically, with manual you retain far more speed in a drift, you're much more likely to win 5 in a row by going manual just on that alone.

3. You really need to practice getting the time-attack in single player down to about 4:35 to make this all but a dead-cert and I would recommended goal B because even though you may be fast you can't always be certain of being at the front by the end of stage one - but if you can pull a 4:35 or faster then you are probably going to be ahead of everyone by the end of stage 2 and you can continue to dictate terms as you head for goal B.

4. Help your cause on the start line but not over-revving at the start. I use the Testarosta because I used to love Outrun when it first hit the arcades and ofc it was a Testarosta back then :) The Testarosta has a red-line at about 7,000 revs and is a good place to try and hovver at before slamming down the trigger.

NOTE: These have to be done in one sitting.

These can be done with a friend easily by letting each other win 5 matches in a row on Private Matches.

See the Achievement Trading Thread (LINK) for help with this achievement.
