How to unlock the Passing Breeze achievement in OutRun Online Arcade - Definitive Guide

I captured a run of me doing a 4'20 AT tuned to show the route and the lines I take.

If you go Right Left Right Right with the F40 (tuned), then you can get the 4.30.00 achievement fairly easily. I got ten seconds above on first try, then six, then a second under, even with hitting several barriers in the final stretch.

Also, you can actually take all the corners in the first section without drifting quite easily. Ignore what the ghosts are doing!

Does it matter at all to us AT or MT?

Pick the 288 GTO (tuned) with manual transmission for this. The route you might choose is Left, Right, Left, Left.

To gain this achievement, it is necessary to never bump into something, never leave the actual street as it slows you down and never drift using your brake - when you need to, simply click LB and RB (shift down and shift up) whilst holding your left stick in the respective direction - this will let you drift without any loss of speed.

Good luck!

Is this why MT is better than AT, because shifting down (then up quick) lets you drift with less loss of speed?

I managed this achievement using braking for drifts. Didn't realise there was a faster method

Exactly Xonatron. But you can see if the other guides that people manage to do it fairly easily with AT, so nothing is mandatory. I have been trying in MT for the past hour, with a different route (all left) but I can't get it, even though my driving could be better yet.

I just got it with auto no-tune stock car. I would stick with the fastest route, which is RLRR. If you check the leaderboards of the route you are taking, LLLL, very few actually get it. Considering that's the route that the most people try, you'd have to be amazingly great at the game to succeed that way.

Put the game into Very Easy from the start options. Always choose the Tuned cars.

2 Options on fastest routes and cars are as follows:
Left, Right, Left, Left - Tuned 288 GTO (Manual Transmission).
Right, Left, Right, Right. - Tuned F40 (Auto or Manual).

Drift round corners and do not hit walls or cars.
