How to unlock the The Dominator achievement in Overlord II - Definitive Guide
When holding audiences in your tower, always accept, just to be sure.
*Spoilers ahead!'
- in Nordhaven, enslave residents rather than burning the final tar pit
- in Nordberg, spare Borius and make him your slave
- don't raze the Nordberg commune, instead enslave them
- don't kill the governess of Everlight
- don't kill the senator in the Heartlands, instead make him a slave
- don't kill the Yeti in the Arena
- enslave all 100 residents in both Nordberg and Everlight; you will need green and blue minions to reach all areas in Nordberg, and to reach the last 20 residents in Everlight, you need to progress the story until the side quest to quell the rebellion becomes available
- during the Elven Rebellion quest, use green minions riding spiders to scare the last batch of rebels off the platform and enslave them; this is a tricky quest due to the clunky controls and the fact that the bombs can kill elves you're supposed to enslave, so make sure you have a save before attempting this ( I needed six tries)
-Overwhelm Borius mind
Borius is the mayor / governor of Nordberg Town.
-Overwhelm minds of inhabitants in Nordberg Town
For this achievement you must enslave all people in Nordberg Town, after taking control you will have some citizens around the city, enslave them and destroy the door of each house making the residents leave, there are 2 that leave each house if only 1 you leave can destroy the house that will not affect your progress, there are also some closed gates in the east and west of the city that you will need the green and blue minions.
-Overwhelm minds of Nordhaven's inhabitants
-Overwhelm minds of Nordberg Commune members
-Overwhelm Governess mind
Governess is a woman in Everlight Town
-Overwhelm minds of inhabitants in Everlight Town
Here you will have to do the same thing as in Nordberg Town the difference is that there will be 4 people in each house and 80 in the beginning, the other 20 you will have to do the side quest "Rebellion in Everlight" to clear the way for another part of the City.
-Overwhelm minds of Drearius and his wife
You'll find them in Empire Hearthlands
-Overwhelm mind of the Yeti monster
After meeting the blue minions for the first time you will have to go to the arena, there you will find Yeti again.
-Let Queen Fay enter the teleport
Proceeding in the game you will once again meet Queen Fay, defeat her and she will become Dark Fay, after that let her enter the portal.
-Rebellion in Everlight
This may be the most difficult to achieve because you can kill a civilian thinking you were an enemy, here you will have to kill some enemies in the beginning, right after destroying the first barricade with the bombs that the enemies are throwing at you, be careful because who will throw the bombs will be the civilians and your minions can attack you for having a red life, later on you will have a bridge and a spider path to it, use your green minions mounted on the spiders to scare you and get out of there, so you can enslave the last 20 inhabitants of Everlight Town.
See "The Destructor" for a list of all choices. Make sure you do all choices that involve Domination if you want this trophy. Also, when dominating people it is easier if you have a higher domination rating and a non upgraded evil presence spell.
You must be consistent in your choices throughout the game (always choose domination for the "Dominator" achievement or always choose death for the "Destructor" achievement). You also need to dominate/kill every inhabitant of Nordberg and Everlight. This should unlock just after your choice to kill Dark Fay or not, unless you have yet to completely dominate both towns.
These are the events that effect Domination/Destruction %.
- Kill/Dominate Borius in Nordberg
- Light the final tar pit in Norhaven/Dominate the population.
- Destroy/Dominate the Elven Commune (sidequest)
- Kill/Dominate the Governess of Everlight.
- Kill/Dominate Senator Drearius and his wife in the Empire Heartlands.
- Kill/Dominate the Yeti in the Arena
- Kill/Dominate everyone in Nordberg/Everlight.
- Kill Dark Queen Fay or let he live as your mistress.
- Kill/Chase away the Elven rebellion. Make a save before you attempt this quest on either run as it's tricky to complete correctly and may take several attempts. It's the sticking point for many on a Destruction run. Use the green spider minions to chase away the elves on the final bombing platform for Domination (see "New world Order" for completing this quest without killing townspeople), but for Destruction use your reds to destroy it. You have to kill them while they are on the platform. The reds (put them on a guard marker nearby using ) will set off a chain reaction of bombs and you'll get a red destruction tick beside the quest rather than the plain gray one you get if using the spiders. You can't just kill them after chasing them down with the greens as this won't count for the quest.
1. Subdue Borius, the ruler of Nordberg (use a little Target Spell on Borius lying under the statue, the statue will collapse and Borius will come over to your side).
2. Subdue all 100 inhabitants of Nordberg (See receiving the New World Order trophy).
3. Subdue 10 villagers to free the ship from the ice (without setting fire to the tar pit at the end of the level).
4. Subdue Nordberg's Elvish Commune (after lowering the bridge with the help of the wolves, leave your minions and go alone. Otherwise they will attack the townspeople).
5. Subdue the ruler of Everlight
6. Subdue all 100 residents of Everlight (See receiving the New World Order trophy).
7. Subdue Senator Drerius and his wife.
8. Subdue the Yeti in the arena (use Taget Spell until he shrinks in size and starts running around the arena. Continue using the spell until you receive a message about subduing the Yeti. This may take longer than subduing a normal person).
9. Don't kill Dark Fay and let her reach the portal and move to your tower.
Attention! You will gain access to the last 20 residents of Everlight at the very end of the game, in the mission "Everlight Rebellion". Don't kill them! Be careful. For more details, see obtaining the New World Order trophy).
