How to unlock the Lord of the Abyss achievement in Overlord - Definitive Guide

This portal will not become avaiable until you have completed the first four portals and beaten the main games final boss. I also was doing it on legendary difficulty so it may be easier on normal than I encountered. I was using the Arcanium Armour with 75% Damage reduction and 25% Regeneration, The bonus you get to health or Mana with armour is so small as to make it pointless, I was alos using the Sword of Life Stealing, which on legendary may or may not have been better than a Max Damage Mace, But the extra health regeneration in Combat was something I felt I probably needed, I also had a Maxed out Arcanium helmet as the extra fire minions were a huge difference.

This Abyss portal is located near the First Ruborian Desert Portal, Around where you first encounter the Giant Sand Worms.

As soon as you arrive in the Ruborian Desert you will find the other four abyss stones you collected sitting in front of you.summon your minions and and send them to collect them and then just follw them to the portal.

Once inside you will be next to some spawing pits and see the path head up hill. At the top of the hill is a circular area with three access points, the way you came and two on the side. I set up my 35 Reds, 10 Greens and 5 revival Blues a little back down the path from the Brown spawning pit. I activated the cut scene by moving forward into the circular area.

Once the cut scene was done I pulled the Overlord back into the narrow point of the path next to the Brown pit and waited there for the waves. As they had to funnel past the Brown pit this left a great point for the Reds to rain fire on them. I did lose some Greens and Blues here, but if I needed to pull back and regenerate a bit, I could easily lock onto the Brown pit and spawn some browns right into the enemy front line to give me a few seconds to back out and regenerate some health.

After this you'll wander the Oblivion world... I mean Abyss for a bit, To your left is a hill which leads to a bridge and a Reaper, you don't need to go this way, as it just loops back, just go straight ahead instead, where you will fight some undead Musketeers, and if you insist a Reaper up on the hill to the right behind them.

Eventually you will come to a Maze and Gnarl will make a Labyrinth comment (If you haven't seen this movie, It's a classic Kids movie by Jim Henson featuring Goblins), Use your reds to light the torches (Left Trigger to aim/select, Right trigger to attack.).

Heading right in the maze goes nowhere, so head left and You'll hear Kahn talking to you, be ready for the fact that Sometimes when you activate the Human torches an Undead Captain will spawn. Eventually you come to a massive chamber with Kahn broken before you, to the right is a corridor with spawning pits, Leave your mnions here in safety and take a hand ful of Reds back to the chamber. Set a Marker for the reds and then one at a time take one from the group and have him target a specific Human Torch, On occasion they will switch which is a hassle but just call another red and target the Torch again.

Once the torches are lit an Undead Shocktrooper will spawn and you will probably lose your Reds, stand in front of Kahn and sucker Eddie into ramming Kahn, This will open access to the door behind him and the Final Final Boss battle.

You will also see the traitorous jester Minion.

But first you need to hit all the switches at once. I don't think the two next to you count, But hit them anyway to be safe then sweep your mnions up one side across and down the other, it was pretty easy.

Here you will meet the Forgotten one who seems to like Brute Chieftain Fashion Accessories He will do three swipes left to right or right to left and then head but the ground after talking, there is a pattern on the floor showing a line, you are safe behind this line. On Legendary a Solid swipe from Him would kill me with full health.

For this battle I differed from the other guide. I found the fire from the Reds to slow to be effective as only one or two would manage to shoot before I had to pull them back before the claw swipe. And the Browns wouldn't attack while his head was buried unless I swept them onto it. So I used mostly Greens with Some reds to throw fire at the undead he summons between phases.

On legendary it took one mobbing from 20 Greens to make him go into the headbutting rage. Move your mnions either left or right to the wall and have them stand behind the Column, he will smash it and damage himself. after two self damaging headbutts he will start spitting fire balls and sucking in your minions. he will still do the headbutt thing and use your greens again.

But now the two columsn you need are behind him, so you will need to sweep your minions around through the rubble either left or right. He only targets you if there is a minion next to you.

When he has destroyed a total of four columns the cutscene will start and it's game over.

On a side note, I actually really enjoyed this DLC, it was well done with some great humour and added about 30-40% more play to the campaign. And I thought the ending cutscene was pretty cool.

This DLC gets worse with every single room and the switches room gave me an actual rage induced stroke. Really glad this studio folded after the second game they deserve to not the industry.

There are no secret/unique item to be found in this abyss.

*Edit* This Abyss can only be accessed after completing all the other abyss events. The Abyss entrance is located by the sandpit where the sand worms are first encountered. To unlock the abyss have minions collect the totems that are laying around the level.

The level is pretty straight forward, The first area a large horde of undead will attack, there is roughly six waves that must be defeated.
The area after that is a maze set the people hanging from the walls on fire to move forward, when you reach Kahn set the people on the wall on fire with out letting them go out and an undead will be summoned place one of the minions in front of Kahn and hide the rest around the corner near the spawn pits, The undead will smash Kahn opening the path to the third area. Use the minions to quickly activate all the switches before they start deactivating to open the door to the boss room.
Boss fight:
Use reds and browns to fight. Use the reds after it does the swing attack, and the browns when it shoves its head in the ground(this is always preceded by it talking). When it growls collect all the minions and move them behind one of the pillars, it will ram it with it's head into it and deal a quarter damage to its life. Do the above four times and the middle pillar behind it will pin it down for the finishing blow(This is prone to glitches, the first time I did this the dragon disappeared and I couldn't deal the finishing blow, had to exit and come back).

you should probably include where in the desert the abyss is. Until then negative vote...

Ater Magus it has reason, in the desert has some totens (4) that they must soon be loaded more the front, where this the vestibule, but estara if the other previous ones will only have been made there. (Translated in Babel Fish.)
