The fastest way to get this achivement is to be patient and save all of the coins you get in loot boxes for a while. Wait until a hero gets some freebie 1000 point costumes and/or a good number of 250 point unlocks. You won't know which hero will get lucky, so you have to just keep opening boxes and saving your coins. It counts as unlocks when you earn a character's achievements, so keep working on as many of those as you can in the meantime.

You will likely need to have amassed at least 2000 coins before you'll have enough to get 50 unlocks, but possibly much more depending on your luck with achievements and rare unlocks.

Once you have saved enough and identified which hero is getting good unlocks for you, begin by buying all of the cheap 25 point sprays that are unique to the character. Make sure that any sprays you buy with coins are actually specific to that character, because the all-purpose sprays will also show up on any list.

It would take an enormous amount of time to earn this just from opening loot and spending your coins only on the 1000 point costumes, as most normal players would. Don't be tempted if you want your achievement.

If you are going after this achievement and the character you have the most stuff on is one of the characters that got a skin with the origin's edition of the game(Baston, Pharah, Reaper, Soldier:76, Tracer and the Widowmaker pre-order skin) you will need 51 for the achievement

How do I unlock Decked Out?

You must get 50 cosmetic items for any hero of your choice. Currently their is no way to sell/get rid of items, so this is cumulative. Items include skins, hero-specific sprays, highlight intros, emotes, voice lines, and a golden weapon. Player icons and general sprays are not included.

Since Overwatch 2 got rid of free lootboxes, this will take much longer for those who never played the first game (unless you plan on spending money, of course).

How do I unlock cosmetic items for my heroes?

1. Weekly Challenges

Completing Weekly Challenges gives you up to 60 Overwatch Coins each week. This will allow you to buy specific cosmetics or the Battle Pass

2. Event Challenges

Halloween Terror 2022 introduced Event Challenges (found under the Event tab in the Challenges menu) which includes some voicelines and sprays. It is not known if more events will have Event Challenges.

3. Spending Competitive Points (CP)

Every hero has a golden weapon that cost 3000 CP.
You can earn competitive points after completing a competitive game with a draw or a win or at the end of a season, if you placed and did not get banned for that competitive season. A draw will earn 5 CP and a win will earn 15 CP.

Note: It is possible to get permanently banned from Competitive Play.

4. Spending Overwatch League (OWL) Token

You can earn OWL Token by watching live OWL matches on YouTube. Each team skin cost 150 tokens and comes with both a home and away skin.

5. Watching Overwatch Contenders

You can earn up to two heroes' Contender's skins (both home and away) by watching Overwatch Contenders live on YouTube.

6. Achievements

All Overwatch achievements will unlock a spray, but only hero-specific sprays will count towards this achievement. The hero-specific sprays will unlock for the hero used to unlock the achievement. These sprays are the "Pixel" and "Cute" sprays.

7. Promotions

Blizzard sometimes include promotions that can give special cosmetic items. Some examples include Twitch drops, buying a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, cross-game promotions, or watching specific OWL matches.

8. Legacy Credits

If you played the original Overwatch, you'll likely have Credits, the currency of the first game. Base cosmetics (non-event items. non-battle pass items) can be purchased using Credits, including new heroes' base items. New heroes' base items cost more than the old heroes' base items.

This information was useful for the original Overwatch run, where you were able to use in-game currency to easily buy items. Blizzard has decided to heavily monetize Overwatch 2 and this information is not as applicable as it once was.

Alright, if you don't feel like waiting to get a legendary skin or two for someone, here is what you do. It takes about 7400 Gold to get all the base unlocks for each character, and since you'll be getting some of the collectibles for whichever hero you want the achievement for, it's going to be a bit less. Don't spend any gold beforehand, though, because if you buy Mercy's Valkyrie skin at 1000 Gold for example, you might get it again and waste a ton of Gold. But, of course, if you want something specific for Reinhardt but you want the achievement for Lùcio, by all means don't hold yourself back from buying it unless you really just want to get the game done.

Since all One versions are Origins Edition copies, you will always start out with a few more default unlocks for a few characters. This doesn't matter, since you still need to unlock almost everything that has a currency price to it, except for the sprays used by all heroes.

Competitive-related unlocks don't matter, such as the sprays and golden weapon skins. Seasonal unlocks have worked for me though, so if you get anything from something like the Summer Games then that should help.

OVERWATCH 2 BEST SOLUTION SO FAR

in overwatch 1 this achievement was easier because you could "buy" everything for free, or by opening boxes
with the arrival of ow 2 it became more expensive and more difficult to unlock cosmetics
well, blizzard has made this easier and more accessible with the arrival of season 3 F2P

ow 1 cosmetics have reduced their price considerably, to 50% or even more, not only that, but now most event cosmetics are always available for purchase
you can buy these cosmetics with premium coins or with Credits (credits is the "new" coins introduced this season to buy OW 1 cosmetics)

you can get 1500 credits for completing the FREE battle pass (you don't need to pay any money) and 2000 credits for completing the premium battle pass this is the updated price of ow 1 cosmetics

legendary skin: 1000 Credits / Ow coins

epic skin: 250

epic event skin: 750

rare skin: 75

Emotes: 250

victory poses: 75

POTG: 250

At the time of publishing this guide, some event cosmetics don't have price, so keep that in mind.
