How to unlock the Short Fuse achievement in Overwatch 2 - Definitive Guide

To get this achievement, you must get the finishing blow on an enemy with your Dynamite ability from 30 meters away by shooting it.

Dynamite is Ashe's second ability, upon use you will toss out the dynamite (kind of floaty at the time of writing this). At the center of the explosion, the damage dealt is about 75, while the damage over time fire will deal about 100 total. It will be easier to get this achievement if the dynamite is shot in the air (especially so if they have a Reinhart or Orisa), but can be shot on the ground for the same effect. If going for the latter, you have 2 seconds after the dynamite lands to shoot it. Depending on your abilities, it may be easier to shoot it in or out of ADS, most will find hip fire easier.

Now the 30 meters is the confusing part, while trying to go for this with friends we all had different ways of doing and different maps. One had very open spot on Route 66, from the Arch to the Train and unlocked it. The second did it on the first point of Gibraltar, from the lower door near the cliffs of the left building to very close to the mini Medkit (the one furthest away from Attacker spawn near the cliffs) and unlocked. The third unlocked it on King's Row, the Ashe was on the upper floor of building to the right of the bus, just barely able to look out the window on the right, they tossed it near the opening of the balcony leading to the alleyway basically in front of the window and shot it in the air, then both the Ashe and the enemy go further away til the enemy died to the burn.

The best way to gauge the 30 meters is to go into the Practice Range, in it there are ranges to shoot at enemy where there are markers for the measurements. The one with the lone bot near the cliff is the best range with it's starting at 0 and 30 where the bot is. Unfortunately this will give you only a general idea of 30m, it won't be easier factoring in terrain.

200 hp heroes need at least a hip fire shot into them before they can be taken down by the dynamite, body or head. 250 hp heroes will require an ADS shot to the body or a hip fire shot to the head before being taken down by the dynamite. Heroes with 300 hp or more (and possibly with armor, have not tested it with armor) will be much harder to secure the kill with the dynamite. The damage to get them close can be done before the dynamite or after the explosion, but it must be done before the burning status is gone.

Nice guide. I got mine on Nepal Shrine standing in the middle of the shrine and throwing the dynamite toward the main opening the other team always funnels through.

So, just to be sure, kill by burn is ok since the "explosion" or the "killing blow" is done from 30 meter ? 'Cause first time I see the achievement, I though it needed to do the killing blow with the 75 explosion damage and not the 100 burn damage.

The 3rd example for the 30m is mine and when they retreated I couldn’t get a shot on the target, but my team mates did engage to damage them but didn’t end up killing them, all the while I’m getting hit markers for the burning til the last tick which finished off the enemy. That was my experience with it

Seems that as long as the shot to blow up the the explosive was 30m+, kill by direct explosion or burn will work.

If they survive the initial explosion, you can whittle their health down further, but the burn needs to be the final blow past 30m for it to count (got mine through this way on a Hanzo straight out the attacker gate on Junkertown).

Anyone having trouble... I was just playing around. Threw it. It hit the floor. And i shot it on the floor. Killed 2. It popped. Easy

I had the same with @SpKXmasSpirit

Burn on Widowmaker and headshotted them but the achievement still popped. It was even included in the PotG (in quickplay) so I didn't miss it the fiest time.

For the achievement, we had defend on Route 66 and on last point I was standing on top of the right side platform next to the big healthpack and Widowmaker was just peeking on the uphill (upon entry to the room area from their spawn).

I MAY be wrong, but I don't believe this requires a killing blow with the dynamite or burn. When I unlocked it [first game ever as Ashe lol] I pulled off the combo and then shot the burning enemy in the head with my next shot for the kill and it popped, so I think this is like a lot of prior OW character achievements that don't specify killing blow [like Soldier's two kills with one rocket only requiring damage on two enemies who then get eliminated]

It helps if you have a Mei on your team who can wall someone in to prevent them from retreating from your target area - mine was Temple of Anubis.

I got mine on Lijiang Tower - Night Market. The entire enemy team was on the point and I was in the middle of the map (at the doorway near the big health) where you can aim straight to the point through the double main doors. Threw TNTs freqently to the point and shot them. Eventually I hit a Zenyatta and I finished him with a shot while the burn effect was still in effect. The finishing shot wasn't right away, he hid for a second then popped out. I think the game only checks if the enemy dies from the combined effort of the TNT and other damages. Since I was at similar range when made the shot and blow up the TNT I can't confirm if you can finish him off from closer.

Just as smakzilla pointed in his guide go first to the training area and practice with the dummies so you get the idea of how far 30 meters feels like and how much damage you must inflict to the target (before or after the explosion) so it get killed by the burn damage.

After a couple of rounds you will be able to get it even in quickplay:

We move away from the mess, throw dynamite, shoot at him as soon as he flies a sufficient distance towards the enemies

You can shoot dynamite both in the air and on the ground. I recommend looking for high points and throwing sabers from them.
PS I got the trophy by dealing damage from a shot while the dynamite was active.
