How to unlock the Sympathy Gains achievement in Overwatch 2 - Definitive Guide
This is easily the hardest of all 3 Archives challenges and I DO NOT recommend trying it with random solo queue players. You’ll definitely need a squad that can coordinate which target you’ll all attack because if even one person try’s to split up and shoot whoever they want they can make it impossible for anybody to kill any of the enemies until you get overwhelmed.
Here are my personal hero picks:
- Ana is SUPER good in these mode as her bionic grenades cancel the shared healing effect of the enemies for a couple seconds, allowing you to get a bunch of kills at once.
- DVA is very versatile here as her Defense Matrix allow her to protect her team from the deadlier enemies and it’s very easy to time it’s use in sync with the shotgun guys so that they can never shoot you. She can still score headshots with her primary fire and her boasters can push enemies off into the water in a few areas, but her ultimate is the best reason to have her as it can kill multiple enemies instantly.
- Reaper also has some flexibility here as he can one shot most enemies with a close up headshot and he can teleport right next to the snipers and deal with them quickly. However his ult is TERRIBLE in this mode and it’s impossible to get any kills with it unless the enemies are hit with an Ana grenade or are alone. Plus he’s pretty Tanky with his self healing ability and wraith form can help revive teammates if they died in a really bad area.
- Zenyatta can also be a good pick alongside Ana as his Discord orb makes it easier to kill enemies even while they’re being healed and is a good way to communicate which enemies to attack first (usually you should kill the closest one or the shotgunners first, and save the bosses for last).
A long range DPS hero is also a good choice such as Ashe, Hanzo, Solider, or McCree (McCree’s ult is probably the strongest because he can also take out multiple enemies and does lots of damage to the bosses).
One last trick you can do is that you can actually skip the section right before the final area where enemies repel down from the ceiling and an Assassin spawns in. All you have to do is be quick and run across the room and out the doors, once your whole team makes it across the doors will close on the enemies behind you.

I agree that Ana is an amazing pick for this. I got the achievement solo queue with randoms and our comp was Ana, Bastion, Dva and Soldier. Soldiers ult can normally kill the normal shooters and the shotgun guys very quickly as long as no one else is shooting

If you don't have your own team, Zen is the single most important component for communicating the target.
There are also lots of ledges, so Lucio is helpful for booping enemies off.
I won with Roadhog, Mcree, Zen, Lucio.

For those of you who play without MIC or with randoms who play uncoordinated, I did this on my first try with randoms as DVA. Randoms picked Baptiste, Ashe, and Lucio. Yes it sounds like a terrible set up but DVA is the most important role because she is a bullet sponge and she can get her mech easily if destroyed. you have to get up to the enemies faces and shoot them point blank and hopefully someone is providing you heals so that way you are drawing all of the enemies fire. With enemies constantly regaining health as you shooting them, You rapidly gain your ultimate and wait for enemies to bunch up around you and use ultimate.DVA can also ram enemies to their deaths with her boost and she can also easily dispatch the snipers by sending them falling to their deaths or headshotting them. If it seems you are getting overwhelmed by the heavy assault, you can always run backwards towards the starting map and have randoms shoot him from far away. You can also easily run circles around the heavy assault with DVAs barrier and having him spinning around trying to get a lock on you. Luckily, It seems the heavy assaults health does not regenerate. Try to stay together as a group by notifying randoms to “group up” at the final section towards the landing platform since enemies will be walking up the steps one at a time. As DVA make sure you take out snipers in this section.Use an unlucky random as bait for the assassin when they are pinned to the ground and aim for the face. I hope you guys had a better team composition with randoms than I did.
OMG GET A TEAM THAT HAS AT LEAST ONE PERSON THAT TALKS!
This is hard as nails, seriously-here's how I did it:
Reinhardt - Me. Focus on shielding ALL THE TIME. For context, I had 24 elims all game, less than 2 others. Only times you shouldn't shield are 1)when you are overwhelmed, use charge to reposition everyone-or 2) shatter at the heavy -or 3) when your shield is dead. Your hammer is NEAR USELESS, so if you are gonna strike people, aim down to hit less people. USE YOU MIC, ORGANISE YOUR TEAM. Keep your team updated on your shield, attacking enforcers, and snipers
*NOTE* One tip I got in my second success(in a row, this works) is using charge to throw assassins off others is a clever idea IF YOU ARE NEAR A WALL. Otherwise, get the others to punch him/her
Bastion - You are PROBABLY THE ONLY GUY HARMING STUFF! PICK PRIORITIES! Here's the priority bracket:
-Sniper/Assassin/Heavy - Enforcer - Trooper
Shoot everything. Then shoot some more. And shoot more. And then some. Seriously, don't stop shooting
Mercy - Easy enough. Pocket bastion. Had zero elims both of my runs, only heal others if they need it. Rez as fast as possible
Ana - Use your anti-nade to remove the heal aspect from groups, you can DPS, !IF! the bastion is shooting them or they're anti-ed
SLEEP THE HEAVY! IT WORKS. For a little bit use this to retreat/revive
As you go, stay together, be slow and careful. There's no timer until the final bit, where you GET ON THE SHIP!!!!!!!!!!!
FIRST HEAVY-
Go about this one of 2 ways. Either, kill the heavy first or everything else. Either way, rein can shatter to stop the heavy, same with ana sleep
Back up as far as you need, there is a large amount of space
SECOND HEAVY-
STAY ON THE ROOF! When the heavy starts shooting, use rein to draw fire, shield and ana/mercy spam to keep him alive. Let bastion use turret to eat him alive, only use rein's hammer IF the enemies are anti-ed, we almost died here 1st time because there were enforcers around
Finally, at the end-DO NOT MESS AROUND. If someone die, tell them to f*** off and get on the ship. Or, you could take on 2 heavies
