Story related and cannot be missed.
Soon after riding the Molten boss, you'll arrive at Mesos and will need to help Twig. You'll see a few scenes and he will then join your group when you enter his house and talk to his family. Twig can shoot like Geddy but deals more damage, can dash when holding :R2:, and can grab enemies and throw them if you aim at them.
