Not sure if there are other ways to unlock fever but I just wanted to share this video I found that helped me get no problem

You need to get an equal amount of points (1,000, 2,000, 10,000 etc.) at the Slots screen after any level. Follow the video to get it super easy. Be at around 1450 points near the end of the level. You get 500 points from the banana (to open gate) and some dots on ground.
I played through level 1-2 Corsair's Cove, grabbed 2 slot coins and ended the stage with 6000 points exactly. As soon as the slot machine started it activated melon frenzy and I got my achievement. Not sure if there are other ways to unlock fever but I just wanted to share this video I found that helped me get no problem

I did this in 1-1 (Buccaneer Beach) by reaching the end with no points. I collected only 2 slot coins along the way. The statue at the end has a melon above it worth 1000 points. Very easy.
