The most efficient way to go about unlocking this is to craft the base ingot which requires 2x Ore. To really speed things up, have multiple furnace's going at once and use the Jormuntide Ignis Pal which has lvl 4 Fire and will craft ingots essentially instantaneously.

Another tip is to have 2 ore miner plots in your base with lvl 3 and 4 miners and let it run over night. I had 6 lvl 3 miners and 1 lvl 4 mining in my base overnight and woke up with 25k ore in 6 hours.
