After you beat the game you should be around level 65. You can immediately start doing maps to level up or you can go back to a previous area to level up.
One of the easiest areas to level up in is act 9 The Blood Aqueduct.
When you get to the end of the area go through the door and when you finish loading turn around and hit y then, start new instance. When you get to the waypoint just fast travel back to highgate and reset instance again.

In mid-60s, did you find it easier to farm the area listed or to start mapping? If the former, when would you recommend beginning the latter? Cheers.

Try doing a tier 1 map and if you cant do it without dying do the farm. Depending on your build you might be able to easily do tier 1 maps. I had a pretty bad build and couldn't do a tier 1 map without dying.
