How to unlock the Grandmaster achievement in Path of Exile - Definitive Guide
This is a unique map which has pvp scaling on (Promenade in current league). WARNING: Do not try to solo this without proper gear or preparation !! You will probably end up dead with all of your portals wasted. Also unsummon your animated guardian before entering this map. It will get killed asap and all gear it has will be lost. Even insane 50k health animated guardian dies in seconds because of pvp scaling.
The enemies in this map are certain players who are controlled by AI. Good thing is that they act like normal monsters so you can kite them or build traps etc. Bad thing is that some of these are designed that they cannot be harmed in normal way or they are OP as hell. Map is divided in four corridors and each corridor has force fields which holds next set of enemies. The enemy level rises after each set until you face level 100 enemies at the end of the corridor.
Some of these level 100 OP are the most annoying. Some of them can oneshot you off-screen and player named "TheGrandHamster" was top 1 pvp player few years ago. Good thing is that they wont spawn every time you open the map so with a little luck there aren't any of these insane characters waiting to one shot you.
You will also encounter some enemies who wont take any normal damage. The trick they are using is CwDT etc. items. They cast healing and other effects when you hit them. To counter these you need to cheese them and use skill which wont hit the enemy. The best solution for this is item called "Balefire" it has skill names scorching ray which can be used against CwDT characters easily. They melt away pretty quick. Buy Balefire with few chaos orbs and socket it with good fire support gems.
- Kite enemies, pull them so you do not need to fight all of them at the same time
- If you have trap build, lay traps before the forcefields and enjoy the fireworks. Enemies do not try to avoid traps
- Exploding arrow works against CwDT builds
- Play dirty and cheese enemies every time you have change. Some enemies are made just to troll you so don't hesitate to use cheap tricks on them as well.
- Spark skill with high end support gems can kill enemies off-screen without aggroing them
- Equip always Balefire to secondary weapon. It is FTW
- If you have summon build note that pvp scaling weakens your summons. Use minion instability to make your summons explode when killed. Summon raging spirit is also great with minion instability.
- If you can clear one corridor it means that you can do the rest. It is then just pure luck what enemies the map has. When you build is good you should be able to kill everything pretty easily and struggle with few level 100 charaters. Don't give up and reaload the map and hope easier enemies.
