How to unlock the The Forsaken Masters achievement in Path of Exile - Definitive Guide
(This is correct as of 5/21/2022, 3.18 league) The requirements for this achievement have changed because of the new atlas update. Other achievements have also had their requirements changed as well so if you want to look up the updated requirements for any achievements I highly recommend logging in to pathofexile.com with your Microsoft account to see what you need to do.
I'm going to copy and paste Xerostomia's comment here with the new requirements:
"With the launch of Scrouge league (3.16), the criteria has changed. Levels are removed and instead you need to kill specific bosses.
Alva- The Vaal Omnitect
Niko- Aul, the Crystal King
Einhar- Farrul, First of the Plains
Jun- The Syndicate Mastermind
Zana- The Sharper and The Elder"
For Alva, you can find the boss by doing her atlas missions and completing her incursions. The Vaal Omnitect is the boss at the apex of the temple. As you run incursions you will get stones of passage from defeating enemies, use them while in the incursion to open up new paths. Once you run 12 you will be able to fight through the temple and hopefully reach the boss
For Niko, Aul can be found in the mines by delving pretty deep. Bosses will be more common the deeper you go and people first reported finding his node at around ~160-180. I'm finding conflicting reports on what the node is called so look for the symbol which looks like it hasn't changed. It will be a dark blue shadow with glowing blue eyes
For Einhar, you will need to find a Beast and capture it. You will need the Farric Tiger Alpha captured and then use the blood alter to craft the recipe. This will give you portals to the boss den. Do note that you will need to capture the beast yourself, it will not work if you just buy the item
For Jun, you will need to run a lot of Syndicate encounters. There are 4 types of encounters that give you points in each of the 4 categories, transportation, fortification, research, or intervention. Once you get enough points in one of those 4 categories you can run a safe house encounter. If you defeat the bosses then you can get points in the Mastermind safe house. Once you get enough points there you can face the boss
For zana, as of now I'm not familiar enough with the new atlas mechanics to know how to spawn them
Do note that if you had previously maxed out a master with the previous leveling mechanic, it will count as already have completed them even if you have not fought that boss

Beastmaster maxed out at 7 so did they lower the rest as well or is he just an oddball?

Yes that must've been a typo. The maximum level for each is 7 and I edited the guide accordingly

Since game ver. 3.5, there is only 5 masters.
Since game ver. 3.16, how to achieve this has changed
it now required to kill the following boss:
(This can be done in permanent league, as achievements are not specific to temporary league (league =season of other games))
Also a tip: when you buy kill, you can always use skill that is linked to Culling Strike (or similar passive skill) to land the kill blow
Alva: The Vaal Omnitect (boss of the Temple of Atzoatl)
difficulty: 1/5. Easy to spawn by just linking the room by opening doors in the temporal incursion to the past; survive and kill the boss in the present day Temple of Atzoatl
Einhar: Farrul, First of the Plains (the cat boss)
difficulty: 3/5. Easy to spawn by buying the portal beast, kill the beast to open portals, and enter the boss fight proper. Can hire someone else to kill the boss in the party
Jun: Catarina (the Syndicate Mastermind)
difficulty: 3/5. Yet another easy to spawn boss. Just keep on acquire Syndicate intel by killing Syndicate wing leader in their Safehouse. The boss is yet another dps check. Manage the self-explode skeletons that follow you very slowly, or manage your pace on the totem rotational AOE are more important. Yet another boss that you can just buy kill
Zana (Kirac): Shaper and Elder
difficulty: 4/5. The patch note is not that clear but it seems imply the Uber Elder kill instead of killing Shaper and Elder in separate boss fight. The boss is one of the pinnacle boss of the game, but it is yet another easy boss if you have enough dps and enough defensive layer to tank or evade or block or migrate the boss' dps. Just buy kill if you can't beat it, a lot of people are willing to offer boss kill service in party play
Niko: Aul (boss of Primeval City biome in the Azurite Mine)
difficulty: 5/5. Delve is one of the game mechanic of the game as an alt end game. The boss is very very rare that you can only found him (it) in delving into the deep mine. The monster in mine however scale with the depths, so that when you find him (it), probably he (it) will be very tanky due to the scaling, plus a few of nasty randomly generated area mod that cannot be rerolled once generated and displayed in your mine chart. Even the dev claimed that the spawn chance will be buffed in October 2021 patch (3.16), the boss probably still very rare. And you cannot buy the entry to this boss, you need to dig the mine yourself. You can buy kill, but in solo, you have one life (instead of 6 portals = 6 life aka 5 respawns), so that i am not sure the party member was killed, he can rejoin you or not (in case you survived)
