How to unlock the Virtue Corruption achievement in Path of Exile - Definitive Guide

To do this achievement you will need at least 1 vaal orb and 1 skill gem that can be turned into a vaal gem.

Once you have a vaal orb and one of the skill gems all you need to do is use the vaal orb on the skill gem. Sadly, this could take a couple of tries. If it doesn't work you need to use a new skill gem. It took me 2 orbs and my friend 1 orb.

Thanks to Rashaka1 for pointing out that when you use the vaal orb and it does not succeed the item will become corrupted and cannot be modified further. You want the gem to say vaal and then the gem name.

you cant use a vaal orb on a corrupted skill gem. everytime the vaal orb doesnt work you have to use a new skill gem.

omg i used 5 different gems it became corrupted but no achievement.

Make sure your using one of the skill gems that can become a vaal skill gem.

Anyone know if summon skeleton works to be corrupted? Used 5 Vaal orbs on 5 different summon skel gems and it didnt transform

Summon skeletons can be vaaled, i used it for the minion achievement. I've vaaled a couple gems and it always took a couple for me.

Just FYI, corrupted doesn't mean it is Vaal. Corrupted is a side effect of using a vaal orb. It makes it so that the item can no longer be modified in any way. If you successfully convert a skill gem to Vaal it will change the name of the gem to include Vaal in the name.

Walk Up To Lilly Roth And Buy Like 10 Molten Shells From Her.
- Costs 1 Scroll Of Wisdom Each

Take 10 Vaal Orbs And Start Applying Them To The Molten Shell Skill Gems.
- Took Me 4 Tries But It Could Take All 10 If You Are Unlucky.

Achievement Pops When You Get The "Vaal Molten Shell" Version Of Molten Shell.
- About A 1-In-4 Chance To Get It When Applying A Vaal Orb.
