How to unlock the I Knew What I Did Was Wrong achievement in PAYDAY 2 - Definitive Guide

This achievement is obtained in the level Big Oil Day 1.

First you will need the portable saw with one point in carbon blades. Putting points into ammunition specialist will help you replenish blades when you run out. Once your skills are set run straight to the basement which is a door that needs to be lock picked. It is easy to get fooled by the garage since it is as well on a lower level than the house. Once in there are 8 ATM machines that need to be sawed open than there are 4 saw points to actually get the money. When using the saw line it up to saw point and a quick tap shot cut it. You don't want to waste your saw blades by over using them. Once you open all 8 and get the money the achievement pops.

If you carry ammo bags with you it's possible to do this without the carbon blades for lower leveled players.

A quick search around the perimeter of the house in Big Oil Day 1 should reveal the entrance to the basement area containing the 8 ATMs. You will need an OVE9000 Saw in order to be able to access all of them, as well as an ammo bag or two for more blades. Be careful to only tap each saw-point on the machines so as not to waste precious "ammo". If done carefully, one ammo bag should suffice. The durable blade weapon mod may not be a bad idea either if available. The achievement should pop upon opening the final ATM.

I had done this achievement before the current patch, but seeing as now Pro jobs are a thing of the past, you should be able to go in, pop this achievement, restart with another loadout profile, and complete the entirety of the heist with another gun in lieu of the saw if you should so choose.

Big Oil job is a Pro Job, meaning that if you fail you won't be able to restart it immediately. For this, you'll need the OVE9000 Saw, as well as an Ammo Bag or two. With your gear in hand, head into the basement of the building by picking the lock, then start sawing into the 8 ATMs. A single Ammo Bag is sufficient for cutting into all ATMs, assuming you use the Saw conservatively. As soon as you cut open the 8th ATM, you'll get the trophy - you don't have to take the money from them.

Required skills for doing this are: Portable Saw (Enforcer Tier 5).

In order to buy the contract on Crime.net, Big Oil costs between $3,525,000 (Hard Pro) and $8,550,000 (Overkill Pro) from your off-shore account.

You will need to purchase the Portable Saw skill from Enforcer skill tree and then buy the Saw itself from the Inventory. Now, select any Big Oil job in either Crime.net or Crime.net Offline; once the mission starts, make your way to the house. There is a door you need to pick by the garage to the back of the house. Once through, you will see several ATM machines. Saw through each of them, and loot the cash for the achievement. This will unlock for the whole party if playing online.

"Big Oil" is a Pro Job that opens at level 30-35.

To open ATMs you need a saw, and to buy one you need a skill in the Enforcer branch - “Portable Saw”.

There are 8 ATMs in total. A standard (without improvements) saw is enough for 2.5 ATMs. If you play with bots, buy an Ammo Bag before the mission, or take it with you.
