How to unlock the Overvolted achievement in PC Building Simulator - Definitive Guide

Easy way to do this is to go into the BIOS on a PC you built and max out the voltage in the CPU overclock settings ( Make sure you save and apply settings before rebooting!!!) .

If done correctly, your PC monitor will read "CPU not found" when you restart the PC.

Congrats, you now have a nice and toasty CPU and an achievement!

Extra Tips

As Jappe pointed out in the comments:

K in Intel models indicate that the CPU is unlocked. Which means it can be overclocked. So just make sure you have a CPU model of K or X and you can do it. This can be done in Free Build mode so just get a high-end motherboard since it doesn't cost you anything.

Ryzens should all be overclockable.
Being able to overclock is key to being able to access the voltage settings.

I used an Intel i7 7700K on a MSI Z270 Gaming pro carbon motherboard (I'm sure any K model Intel or Ryzen CPU with supporting motherboard will do).

Just to be extra certain it will die, add some bad cooling. A passive CPU cooler such as the ARCTIC Alpine 12 should work for our needs.

I accidentally hit the wrong settings, and burned out all four 16gb memory sticks at once 🤘 laugh

I did the 1920x1080 build listed in that achievement's solution. Once that one popped, I rebooted, went into BIOS, and maxed CPU voltage and increased the other 2. Apply settings and exit and it popped this one pretty much immediately.

We set a high voltage in the BIOS and a weak cooler on the processor without applying thermal paste.
