Pentiment

This occurs in Act 1 after reaching the Abbey and working. You'll have a conversation with two nuns through the door to the Library, one of them is Illuminata. She will ask you to return some books for her and the final book is the French book you want to keep. To Persuade her, you need to do the following:

• Offer to help Illuminata collect the books enthusiastically.
• Ask Illuminata for forgiveness for keeping the books.

Once you collect the French book, a conversation with Illuminata will start. Make sure to choose friendly dialogue options about keeping the book rather than giving it back to be burned. The conversation should then end at a Persuasion Check. You should have a full bar for your chance of success, thanks to you doing the bulleted points above. She will then agree to let you keep the book.

I had a background in Latin and Theology

Here is what I told Illuminata in order:

Ask if she is mad at you for borrowing “Cronica Clara”. Then, ask if it is not valid to observe the works. (This is done before beginning to collect the books)

Say you’ll help with enthusiasm

For the first book, there was an option to recite a part of it in Latin, choose this option if you have the Latin background

For the second book, there was an option to appeal to theology, do this if possible. Specifically, the first option that invokes Paul in a positive manner

In the third book, say that Father Matthias was right i’m not destroying books

Because of my Theology background I chose, I selected an option along the lines of “Think of the theological reasons”. There are other options as well which I noticed had to to with books and other appeals, so pick the one best related to your background
