How to unlock the Going Nova achievement in Persona 3 Portable - Definitive Guide
I was able to obtain this as early as the second block. Give Mitsuru the elegant fleuret or higher attack sword, and get a surprise attack on a golden hand. When in battle the gold hand should be weak to her normal attack, so just have her attack it. In my game She did well above 999 damage and completely killed it. Set your game difficulty at beginner if it doesn’t work on a higher difficulty.
Easiest method by far, go to tarturas, save up about 20,000 yen-40,000, go to the arcade, and just use the option for punch the punching bag on days when its available, if its available in morning it can also be done a second time at night, it adds strength to your current active persona, and basically will add 1-8 of a stat normally its 4 or 6 its actually rare to get 3 or less same with higher then 6, but, the reason this method is busted, is because by the time you get to block 2 you can have your starter persona with about 80 strength if you did it on most days available, on days its not you can just grind more yen or try the whack a mole game for agility increase, but basically every point in a stat is the base a persona should have at that lv, to make this easier to understand, 80 strength is what you'd have at about lv 80, so by block 2, you could literally have a persona thats essentially a lv 80 for just basic attack swings (youll need 60 or so for the cheevo, 35 if its a crit), and with the way dmg is calculated, your level doesnt determine your stats it slightly effects the personas stats, what really matters is; persona stats> gear> your level, in that order the personas level doesnt matter, and by block 3 you could just make a pixie or orpheus have the stats to carry you through the game without any grind so you can focus on social stats and links, speedrunning tartarus once per new main boss just to keep your level up and to have the yen for better gear

In the early levels of Tartarus, 999 in one hit might seem like a distant pipedream, but it won’t be long before you get this naturally. You’re likely to get it on a Treasure Hand, as when you land a crit on them, it does insane damage. If you, by some miracle, don’t manage to get this naturally, take a super high level Persona and go to the bottom of Tartarus. Your damage and their lack of defence will mean you’ll do well over 1,000 in no time whatsoever. Especially if you get a crit.
