How to unlock the Going Nova achievement in Persona 4 Golden - Definitive Guide
There are many ways to unlock this achivement, the way I unlocked it was during the 5th dungeon in the game. On the 8th floor you will encounter a big red robot looking enemy called
"Dominating Machine". That enemy in particular will take a lot more damage if you use magic attacks, e.g Agidyne, which in turn (assuming you are around the same level as the enemies in this dungeon) should have you dealing upwards of 1.5k damage to the enemy, which will grant you the achivement.
Another way of unlocking this is to progress the Lovers Arcana so you are able to deal more damage during your All Out Attacks, among other benefits. The All Out Attack damage bonus will drastically increase the damage you do to the point where you will easily be doing 3 to 4 thousand damage during one.
If you are still struggling to get this achivement, I'd recommend going to the system settings and going to the difficulty section. Once there you can change the "Damage Given" modifier from Normal to Great which will increase the overall amount of damage you do.

Definitely not as easy as this one was in Persona 3, thanks to the tougher Treasure/Golden Hands in P4G, but still definitely not a hard achievement.
To get this all you need to do is to, when you're a super high level, head back to one of the earlier dungeons and use an attack that is an enemy's weakness. If you manage that you will absolutely smash the 999 barrier, and have a nice shiny achievement to boot. Not a bad day at the races, in all.
I actually got this in Naoto’s dungeon, against the Dominating Machine on the 8F, who not only does a massive amount of damage, but also receives a massive amount too.
If you’re struggling, keep grinding that level and powering up your Persona’s Strength or Magic with the Shuffle Time at the end of a battle.
