How to unlock the Hardcore Risette Fan achievement in Persona 4 Golden - Definitive Guide

This small guide is complied of information from around the internet with definitive conformation on what lines do and do not count, along with a helpful checklist you should use to check of all the lines that you have heard.

IMPORTANT HINTS
1. This is not a cumlulative achievement
2. It must be done in one playthrough
3. The lines only count when they appear up in COMBAT in the top left corner and accompany her picture/image

4. If you decide to level up Rise's Slink, you'll miss about 20 lines. No big deal, but you should get these before advancing. It's not hard to get. These lines are for when you know nothing about the enemy and you're are weak compared to them.

5. Do not play this game on Very Easy. Being overleveled will force raise to skip quotes when you are weak compared to enemy.

6. Leveling teammate's Slink will get them to have "wake-up." This randomly activates and will cure ailments. If you really want this trophy,it's logical to NOT do team slinks

Things that do not count:
1. Manual Analysis lines.(LB button)
2. Boss lines.
3. Interrupted lines.

General Information
This achievement requires that you hear 250 unique in combat lines from the character Risette. This includes lines under a few categories. Divide your team into 2 groups of three members. Bring each group for grinding whenever possible.

1. Elemental enemy weakness. Fire, Ice, Electric, Wind, Light, Darkness and Physical.
2. Ailments. Silence, Panic, Dizzy, Enervation, Exhaution, Fear, Poison
3. 62 Total Ailment Related Quotes (7 Ailments x 7 Character) + 14 + 6
4. 4 quotes for Escaping
5. Weak/Same/Strong. To tell how the enemy is compared to you
6. Pre-emptive, Ambush, Knockdown, and Killed/Killing takes up the MAJORITY of all the quotes. Randomness plays a big factor.

You can only get these specific lines from combat, and will range anywhere from when you first encounter the enemy, get status effects placed on your party members, or when a critical hit has been taken. The lines only count when they appear up in the top left corner and accompany her picture/image.

1. Use this GameFaqs guide which provides hints and tips on places to grind for lines and lots more.

2. The spread sheet check list, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DRVkzWboXQ1TASesdgEB...

To think that I gave up on the platinum back in the Vita because of this broken ass achievement just to have it now back on the Xbox. Ugh.
Great guide, though. At one point, the player will have access to six party members. I recommend dividing those in Party A and Party B and always take them together out grinding when you need to farm out those lines.
I can also confirm that you won't get this achievement by playing the game as intended, which is what I hate the most about it. I played it twice, once on Normal and once on Hard, and it never popped.

I disagree with this to an extent. I unlocked it four times on the Vita, and never went out of my way for it. I think it comes down to play style as much as anything (how much grinding you do, how much you rotate your team).

I can only speak from personal experience, but I got this achievement with minimal grinding for this achievement specifically. By which I mean that I simply swapped party members to keep their levels fairly even in between runs into dungeons. I didn't grind beyond what was needed for side quests.

I ended up farming presumably the last handful with dmg items to get multiple downed enemy lines. It popped fairly quickly, leading me to suspect that I might have been able to get it playing through the last couple dungeons.

Hope this helps someone

I just got it first run on very easy, so it's not impossible despite not being able to get lines due to being OP. You just need to make sure to make up for that by making use of the lines you can get.

Man, anyone who says the got this natural has to be playing us. Ive been using the spreadsheet and have heard a total of 260 according to it and still no pop. Not only that but some lines aren’t even on the spreadsheet. This is taking forever especially since i HAVE to let her finish talking and i would like to upgrade the slinks before i have to fight margret . Which i could link my spreadsheet and get some help. (Currently saving naoto)

I initially was checking off the Boss and Manual Analysis lines because they are on the spreadsheet but then I came back and looked at this solution since after I had 250 the achievement still hadn’t popped and realised that these do not count so after I un-checked them I only had 229 lines heard.

I went and got Naoto as I had 25+ lines heard for all other companions and thought I could easily get her to 20 lines heard. I literally only had to get 3 lines with her and my achievement popped. So I could’ve got this achievement before I even got Naoto. I guess I missed loads of Rise’s lines without realising, I did only have 77 lines heard from Risette on my spreadsheet.

I also did all S-links with everyone and I played on custom difficulty although I didn’t change much, I made it so I could have retries in battles, more money won, and damage taken was small.

Just for reference, I just unlocked this and I'm playing on Safety and had progressed Rise's social link before I returned to the TV World. I didn't get a single one of the Rise Analysis - Weakness lines etc. before unlocking the battle entry analysis but still unlocked this as I was grinding through the laboratory for quest items. I rotated my party but didn't have to spend hours grinding specifically for this.

Can confirm I also got this achievement naturally.

Mine was a bit tighter, however. I got this on the final boss, on the second last turn before defeating it.

I still have the checklist from when I got this on Vita. The final count was 245, and I only marked the boss lines where her text box appears in the upper left. The lines I missed were ones that got interrupted by All-Out Attacks and never showed up again (at the time it was unclear whether those count, but I got the trophy when one of her lines started, not when it finished), so unless I missed 11 lines some of the boss lines do count (or unless it was changed for this release).

Definitely possible to do when playing naturally, but going by the spreadsheet I'm in the November dungeon and I'm only about 150 lines through!

On the vita version (which I'd didn't use a guide for outside of slink answers) I'm fairly sure I unlocked it before I had Naoto, but I did have to do a little bit of grinding to get past the Video game world boss.

Here is my input after unlocking this on 9/22 in game.

-- Follow this step by step guide, top notch, very helpful. https://psnprofiles.com/guide/8564-persona-4-golden-platinum...

-- Keep difficulty settings customized to assure ease of play, having the hero die with retries turned on gives full revives and full restores to the party which is great. I kept Exp given at low until after achievement was unlocked. Change the rest as you like.

-- Keep your levels minimal until this achievement is unlocked. I started 9/22 at level 32 to make sure I could get the lines related to stronger enemies, which in turn relates to the enemy ambushes/enemy advantage fights by getting attacked from behind, the neutral fights with no advantages and the player advantage fights were you attack them from behind. This in total is 33 lines of dialogue for Rise which assured I was able to get this on 9/22.

-- Use the spreadsheet linked up above to keep track of ALL lines Rise says in combat with her picture AND voice in top left of screen. Ignore any lines that are interrupted. I specifically kept track of lines that were interrupted with a ? next to them and my achievement didn't unlock until exactly 250 lines were said without a ? next to it.

-- I spent roughly 15 hours on 8/1 running through old dungeons to get as many Rise lines as possible. I was exactly 202/250 when I finished 8/1 and got the rest on 9/22 after Rise S.Link level 6, which at level 2, gives her the weakness identify at battle start. This is what got me the remaining 45ish, with a few status ailments sprinkled in there as well plus the Void Quest unique boss dialogue.

Good luck!!

Lots of good advice in the comments. I'll throw in my suggestions and approach, although some of it is just reiterating what has been mentioned.

Use Less EXP gain in the difficulty settings. Everything else change to your liking. It's easy to miss some lines if you're overleveled.

If you're following the PSProfiles guide (which is excellent), you will be forfeiting lines related to elemental weaknesses (20+). I strongly suggest getting as many Advantage/Ambush lines as soon as you enter the first dungeon with Rise as your navigator, as these are also removed later on.

Buy magic items that deal damage to all enemies from the item shop. The spreadsheet doesn't list lines for getting 5 enemy downs, but that's an additional 7. Late game dungeons can give you battles with 5 of the same enemy, so take advantage.

The spreadsheet, while helpful, isn't going to have every line so you may need to make extra notes. I got at least 15 additional lines from natural play not listed. The only boss lines that count are those that show in the top left, not the speech box at the bottom. All-Out lines also do not count (no dialog box).

Stay committed to this achievement exclusively. A good stopping point is 200 exactly BEFORE rescuing
.

So after just unlocking it, it seems like manual scans do work, at least for me. I removed them from my spreadsheet, which removed around 30 lines from my list, but it popped for me at 228 voice lines heard. I unlocked the achievement on November 11 without using Naoto at all. This just adds more fuel onto the confusing fire, do these manual scans count or do they not? There were some lines that weren't listed on the spreadsheet as the previous comment mentions, but I'm not sure how many of those I got. I also cannot confirm the exact timing as to when the achievement unlocks, as I got the notification on my phone five minutes after I unlocked it, and not on my pc.

Good luck to everyone else!!!

@Isaweth. I am cetain that the manual scans do not count. My guess is that you got more lines that are not listed on the speedsheet.

I'm a little confused about some of the stuff in the guide. You mention "lines for when you know nothing about the enemy and you're weak compared to them," "Elemental enemy weakness" lines, and "Weak/Same/Strong" lines. Wouldn't all of these be manual analysis lines, which don't count?

@Cpt Obvious1994. It has been a long time since I went for this achievement( I was trying years ago on the original Vita version) I think the way this works is that as you kill enemies you gain some data on them, like using a random element on it to see what its weak to. once you have the data on what its weak to Rise will comment someting like, "It's weak to fire! This will be easy!" if you encounter the enemy again and at random.

As for weak, strong and same i think these lines trigger when you enter a battle with enemy being weak, same or strong in comparsion to your overall level. So if you are a really low level, like level 5 and you fight an enemy that is a few levels higher there is a bunch of random lines for that. Maybe she says "these guys are to strong, watch out" as an example.

As I have heard online over the years and with what seems like pretty good conformation, it seems certain that manual scans do not count, the L1 button if i recall right.

Unlike Futaba in P5, Rise doesn't have lines for starting a battle against enemies while being above or below their levels. Since the manual scans don't count, it doesn't matter what level your team is at.

@ Groudon199. I was just not sure where those strong weak ones are as its been along time. I was thinking about the battle advantage lines it seems. Any chance you still have your spreedsheet with all the lines you found? Could you share it with all of us?

Also, looking at your total play time. I wonder how quick it would take someone to get the achievement? Id say if you knew what you where doing you could get it in at least half your total playtime? Maybe 60 odd hours even.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vRzGCJfUbyU1... (had to get 8 extra lines, idk what didn't count)

The playtime on my final NG save was around 45 hours, and I got a little over 200 lines without needing to grind status ailments.

Something I've discovered but hasn't mentioned on here. While manual analysis scans are widely accepted to not count, I've found that it can prompt Rise to say lines during battle. so I've been spamming RB whenever my party's got any status affects. I've gotten all Poisoned and Defense down for everyone this way already (except for Naoto, but I've made a note of it)

This was much easier than I expected. By following the PSN guide I got ~220 lines on August 1. XP on less / damage on less for some and with a few dozen 50dmg elemental items. I think could have squeezed out some more but the enemies by then ("Minecraft" dungeon and below) had trouble applying status effects. The next time I went in Rise could comment on weaknesses / immunities and the rest piled up very fast in the Laboratory dungeon. I think it may be theoretically possible to get 250 lines on August 1. but Rise straight up refused to roll many of the lines in the spreadsheet. For example I could never get any lines for All out Attacks (not even now when she is higher lvl) and "hitting the weakness again" only drops 1 line for everyone out of the three. Same with down attacks and a few others where there are more than one option but Rise kept saying the same few. Playing with instant revive is heavily suggested to not lose progress and keep in mind healing items/abilities could be very useful because low health lines block everything else most of the time. Switching personas for the MC forced Rise to comment sometimes.
Edit: Oh, and following the PSN guide the S.Link upgrades had little to no effect on grinding, I barely lost a few lines so don't fear following it to the letter (if you plan to grind as much as you can on Aug1 - 220 was obviously completely unnecessary). What really helps is allowing the enemies to stab you in the back because they can apply status effects right away and your team loses a whole turn before they can react. This could allow Rise to comment three or more times before you'll even get your first turn.

I got this yesterday, I didnt start going for it until I hit the Secret Lab and my party were all around level 60, and most of them had max S. links so I had already missed out on a lot of the early 'free' lines you would get from being underlevelled, and I found a lot of the status lines were difficult to get as my party would often cure ailments before Rise had chance to speak.

What I did was keep playing until after Heaven trying to get lines to drop but without going out of my way to force them, and when I was ready to go into the next palace at the end of December I changed the damage taken to 'high' and damage dealt to 'low' in the difficulty screen, and worked through each of the dungeons in turn starting from the castle, going through each one twice (once per party)

I looked at a checklist and to be honest I didnt find them massively helpful in terms of ticking things off (just couldnt be bothered, and half were incomplete anyway!) but they did give me an idea of what kind of things that triggered the phrases.

I found that lines for scanning enemies at the start of battle dropped constantly and were different for every dungeon meaning they were the bulk of the lines I got. I also made sure to take a lot of the 'do 50 elemental damage to one/all enemy' items and went through doing normal attacks, crits, elemental weaknesses (I used an item to hit a weakness, did it again for 'one more', then guarded with the other 3 party members and then did it a third time whilst the enemy was still down with that same character as I would often get different lines on hit 2 and 3 with that character) and rotated that through all party members as I went through the dungeons, and letting things like dodges, dizzies, low health/KOs (which happened fairly easily with party damage set to high), and down 1/2/3/4 enemies with each character all happen naturally. I also randomly mixed in starting battles with an advantage, starting them normally, and starting them by running past the enemy and letting them get the advantage on me.

I didnt really focus on status ailments - as I said they seemed to be cured too quickly for Rise to speak - if they happened then great, but I didnt force it (I got silence, rage, fear, poison, enervation on a couple of party members only - I didnt get all ailments for any party member at any point, and never saw exhaustion or panic happen). I also went through the escapes, and managed to get shadows to chase me to other shadows for reinforcements a couple of times.

I also got lines by repeatedly enemy scanning on the same turn over and over until she said a line - usually some variation of 'X enemies left' or a comment on someone being down/dizzy.

I never got any lines from All Out Attacks, but there are 3-4 lines from doing the rush attacks, and if you try to escape, then try again when the option is greyed out you will get another line.

Doing it this way gave me the achievement by the 3rd palace with the second team (so 6 palace runs in total), and took around 4 hours of grinding at the most to get the achievement. Good luck!

I am using the spreadsheet (it has the analysis one and a couple double so my count might be a bit off) and I'm at 264. I am not directly going for this as I am farming items for quests atm (another pain in the ass as the shadow won't spawn).

Why can't they just have a checklist? Or a tracker?!

EDIT: Ok so I genuinely think that this is glitched/on a super delayed timer or something because I was farming enemies for a quest item and randomly got this whilst escaping, I had no new dialogue that I hadn't for like 30 minutes and then it randomly popped.

Finally got this today (during Nanako's dungeon) after some very dedicated grinding in NG+. A few things:

* The linked Google Excel tracking sheet was simply awesome, but as others have pointed out it includes "analyze lines" (pressing LB), which most likely doesn't count for the achievement. I was at 289 lines when it finally unlocked for me (during the fight).

* I played on Very Easy and was extremely overpowered. But remember you can stock up on items that do elemental damage from the store, which then can be used by any party member to trigger lines for amount of enemies down.

* I had also leveled up my s-links with my main party to 10 (Yukiko, Chie, Yosuke and Rise). This was no doubt the thing I regret the most, as they very often removed ailments before Rise could speak her lines. I strongly advice not ranking up your s-links when going for this. Remember to also use Stagnant Air, to increase the chance of recieving ailments, and never block with a party member when trying to get them.

@ZymunGuile OMG thank you so much bro. After a lot of hours searching for help and farming at the game for this achievement, you were the only one who truly helped me with this.
I can confirm all you said. I was in the same boat as you.
I’m at December too on my game and all my main team is already overlevel but my others characters are like at 30, so I switch to them and start the farm at every dungeon as you said.
After 3 hours, I got it randomnly in Void Quest.
Thanks again and do what this man said if you are in a situation like us.

Just got it 250 on the dot without counting the manual analysis lines from the excel sheet. I had 267 with them included, they absolutely do not count.

I personally got it during the lab area, before ever unlocking Naoto for my party. I was even going for 100% social links so it can definitely be done at the same time, while on normal difficulty.

Does it pop as soon as you get the last one, or do you have to finish the match?

Good luck!

I can also confirm that you won't get this achievement by playing the game as intended

This achievement is perhaps the most annoying achievement of the lot. It’s luck-based, it takes a while, and you can also screw yourself over a little if you’re too levelled when you finally get Rise Kujikawa in your party. However, there’s a lot you can do to make this happen naturally and not force yourself to follow a guide or write down all 250 lines that you hear. The below is a tried-and-tested formula on how to naturally unlock the Hardcore Risette Fan achievement without being glued to a guide or a spreadsheet.

Key to this is:
  • Rise Kujikawa joins the investigation team on July 10th, and becomes the team navigator on July 11th, meaning you can start this trophy starting then.
  • Don't rank up her Social Link (even once) until you've visited multiple dungeons, as her opening lines are different when she reaches rank 2 of her Social Link.
  • You need to have Rise say lines when your party is weaker, the same level and stronger than your opponents, so a key part is not to be too levelled up by the time you get Rise. That makes the Rise and Teddy boss harder in the short-term, but it does give you more chance of getting this trophy in the long run.
  • You need to get 250 different lines in combat. Emphasis on “in combat.”
  • Lines do not carry across playthroughs.
  • You’ll get different lines for pre-emptive attacks (attack shadows from behind), normal attacks from the front, and when the enemy has the advantage.
  • Once you've got a load of the aforementioned opening battle lines, you can rank up Rise to rank 2 and above, and receive brand new lines based on enemy strengths and weaknesses.
  • Rise will comment on how many enemies are left too, when someone dodges an attack, when someone downs an enemy, or one of your party misses an attack and stumbles.
  • There are lines for enemies running away, you running away, and other enemies attacking you directly after another fight.
  • There are also 2 lines for someone being low on health, and 1 line for them being knocked out (with the exception of your main character, of course), as well as a line for over 50% of the group being at lower than 50% health.
  • The Mind Dice around B6F/B7F in the Secret Laboratory cast Debilitate, which is a great place to unlock all debuff lines (3 per team member - lowered offence/defence/agility).
  • Use all your party members (this is a biggie!) and do the below on all of them.
  • Get all status ailments inflicted and have Rise comment on them being inflicted individually - there are 8 in all. 8 x the number of squad members (7) = 56 unique lines on status ailments on their own.
  • Scan for weaknesses (this Shadow is weak to fire, etc). Although these don't count towards the trophy, what it can often do though is trigger another Rise line. So if your squad is inflicted with something, this can be an easy way to trigger Rise’s line.
  • If her line gets interrupted by an All-Out Attack, it should count, but where possible, let Rise finish her line just to be safe.
  • Unique boss lines count towards the trophy. I unlocked the trophy during one of the unique lines during the Heaven boss fight.
  • And lastly, kill large groups with one attack, so, a group weak to ice, being downed in one will give you a new line (for each character). Same for 4, and 3, and so on. If you’re too overpowered for these situations, use items that do elemental damage for 50-100 health.
