How to unlock the One Who Has Proven Their Power achievement in Persona 4 Golden - Definitive Guide

This guide is from 2014 on truetrophies by ladynadiad

First, you have to max out Margaret's Social link. Guide link below
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/vita/641695-persona-4-golden/f...

Next, you have to defeat the optional bosses in all the dungeons up to Heaven (and this will have to be done by Feb. 5th at the latest).

Then you have to be on the path to the true ending, because you cannot fight her without opening that up.

To get the invitation to battle her you want to go through the events on 3/20 as normal for the true ending. So you go talk to Dojima and Nanako, but say you aren't done yet. Then head to Junes. Normally after the stuff in Junes and another chat with Dojima you'd talk to the gas station attendant to start off the true ending. Before doing this go into the Velvet Room and you should find Margaret alone. Then she'll challenge you to a duel.

From there progress as normal to the true ending and before going off to find Izanami head to the top floor of Heaven and battle Margaret. If you didn't get the Aqua Invitation before talking to the gas station attendant, you missed your chance for this battle and will have to reload a previous save.

Expect a very long and difficult battle. What difficulty you are on doesn't matter for the trophy, only what sort of a challenge you want. If you are doing it on anything but very easy, you'll want extremely high levels and the best personas possible to even stand a chance. Have plenty of healing items and make sure you have someone who is able to heal (preferably the whole party at once because Margaret uses a lot of full party damage skills).

Now one thing of note, some guides do say you have to have seen the true ending to get this, that is incorrect. I personally missed the true ending my first run and got this to happen on my second just fine. In fact I got this trophy before the one to defeat the true final boss.

Just a note on your end statement; the truth lies in the fact you can’t fight Margret on your first play-through, regardless of the ending. So is the final form of the Fool persona

Just run through the game on new game +
Maxed out my social link with Margaret.
Beat all the side bosses
and on the true ending

And it still won't give me the cutscene with her alone in the velvet room.....

Is the Reaper included in those Optional Bosses?

I really hope not. I'm in December of my second playthrough and I haven't been able to find him once during this playthrough. I only encountered him three times in my first playthrough even after running through Yukiko's Castle a lot farming for chests and attribute cards.

Hey trollsbox. Just an FYI, you have to be on New Game Plus to fight Margaret. This isn't mentioned in the solution.

I'm quite sure you also need to fuse izanami no okami before fighting her

You can fuse Izanami-no-Okami after - it has no bearing on this fight.

Adding some tips, to the other guide to help.

So i'll not go in-depth on how to start the fight but more in combat and the setup pre-fight.

Team i used was MC(obviously), Chie, Yosuke and Kanji. All level 99 + last persona evolution on each.

The equipment was ultimate weapons on everyone (not sure it change anything over the ones you bought) and armor godly robe, everything is obtained fighting reaper, (took me 1hour or so to get everything)

Persona for MC:
-Masakado at the starter(mainly because i like his look) with all auto skill (obtained using trumpeter and ardha fusion), but you can just use a maxed trumpeter with the auto skill that he got + debilitate.
- Yoshitsune lvl99 with physic charge, hassou tobi are the most important

Skill for team
-Chie: Dodge fire, Revolution, Physic charge, God's hand
-Yosuke: Dodge elec, forgot the name of his best physical attack
-Kanji: Dodge wind, physic charge, vorpal blade, and the one who extra damage knocked ennemy

Object:
The ones who give 400hp to everyone 10 should be enough

Settings
Damage both high for you and enemy.

Stategy:
Debilitate with the mc, physic skill with yosuke, phy. charge with both chie and kanji
Phy charge with mc, if hp are high thenrepeat the yosuke turn, revolution with chie, vorpal blade with kanji
Mc hassou tobi, yosuke doing same if hp high enough otherwise use the object to heal, chie god's hand, kanji phy charge,

At this point all you have to do is repeat and heal/buff/debuff when needed, always heal with object on yosuke turn

Reminder if you crit her, do an all out if kanji haven't charged physic last turn, if he's charged cancel the all out and use the skill to extra damage her when she knocked.

It's my first guide, and not english native so excuse me if it worded badly

The Margaret boss fight, like the Margaret boss fight in Persona 3 Portable, is easily the toughest fight in the game. However, when comparing it to P3P, they aren’t even in the same league. Sure, you can drop the difficulty down to make it impossible not to win, but if you want to do it legitimately, then fear not, let us assist a little - although, compared to P3P, you can wade in with whatever you want here if you’re a high enough level. There are some criteria to meet before you can face her first though:
  • Be on a New Game Plus playthrough.
  • Maxed out Margaret’s Social Link.
  • Have slain all optional bosses (AKA revisiting all dungeons after you’ve cleared them once, and beating whoever is on the top floor).
  • Head to the Velvet Room (twice) on March 20th, until Margaret agrees to fight you.
  • Then, head to the top of Heaven to initiate the fight.
This will give you access to Margaret boss fight. Unlike the original, and more like Persona 3 Portable, Margaret now moves twice per turn. The fight pretty much goes as following:
  • The first 10% or so are purely physical attacks.
  • The next 40% are severe versions of the elemental spells (Ragnarok, Niflheim, Panta Rhei and Thunder Reign). She’ll use these in conjunction with Mind Charge and Megidolaon. Like Margaret in P3P, she’ll absorb the last ability she used, and is susceptible to the opposite element (hit her with wind if she used electricity, and so on).
  • At 50% she’ll use Morning Star and fully heal. This is part of the boss fight pattern, so don’t worry too much.
  • She will continue this pattern until she’s back down to 50%, at which point she’ll change to Megidolaon (with Mind Charge).
  • Once she’s down to 25-30%, she’ll change to Hassou Tobi and Power Charge, all the way until the end of the fight.
Again, like P3P, there are some rules too:
  • You can’t let the fight go beyond 50 turns.
  • You can’t equip anything that will repel spells/attacks, otherwise she’ll insta kill you.
In terms of who to go with, Yukiko is a must for her healing. Make sure Rise has her Social Link upgraded to get access to her scanning abilities. Naoto is great too, due to her lack of elemental weakness. And your character should go in with Izanagi-no-Okami, as it has no weaknesses. Equip some big damage dealing spells and Mind Charge, and you’ll be golden… Persona 4 Golden!
