How to unlock the It's Showtime! achievement in Persona 5 Royal - Definitive Guide
However, it doesn't tell people how to do it for those coming back to the game after a long time and have forgotten what to do or those that just spam through tutorials and didn't realize how to perform the act. For those in this situation, in the event this guide doesn't get updated or replaced, search the menus for a tutorial telling you how to perform a showtime. I am not far enough in the game or else I would just spell it out.
One may initiate showtime attacks through the following ways:
- When you perform a baton pass.
- When you attack an enemy with an element it's weak to.
- When a party member has less than 50% health.
- An ally is downed.
- The player character is downed.
There are a variety of showtime attacks to learn, mostly from speaking with your teammates at the hideout and often after certain story events. However, for the achievement you only need to use the move once after the tutorial.
*MISSABLE*
Showtimes are a new type of attack in Royal that largely consists of a scripted cutscene and a massive amount of damage. They are random but occur pretty often, up to dozens of times in one playthrough. Showtimes involve two Phantom Thieves members teaming up to take down one enemy. When a Showtime occurs, a red stripe will appear on the screen along with a closeup of one of the pair's faces. Showtimes always occur when it's the turn of one of the party members who is involved in a particular pair of Showtime.
This trophy involves triggering a Showtime move just once. They are first introduced in the Bank Palace, the third Palace from 6/21 onwards. At the start of the main infiltration, the party will round a mandatory corner just before the main Bank lobby and be given the tutorial for Showtime moves.
This tutorial includes a Showtime between Morgana and Ann to introduce the moves, however this one doesn't count for the trophy. The trophy will unlock the next time you use a Showtime move. If by some disaster you don't get a single one over the course of the game, there is a scripted Showtime in the Laboratory Palace that will unlock the trophy, on the path to the Royal true ending.
Showtimes occur randomly, though the chances of them occurring significantly increase under certain conditions, such as:
- A Baton Pass is performed to a party member that has a Showtime unlocked.
- A party member has their health reduced to half or lower.
- The enemy Shadows are significantly damaged.
The combination of team members do not have to be in the party at the same time, just one being part of the four currently in battle is enough to meet the Showtime conditions. For example, if only Ann is in the party with the protagonist, then Morgana and Ann's Showtime can trigger. One of the required team members can also be down or have a status ailment and the Showtime can still trigger. If a party member involved in a pair is knocked out, however, a Showtime for pairs involving that character cannot trigger.
Initially, only Morgana and Ann will be able to perform a Showtime move, but more combinations are added as the story progresses. The combinations are as follows.
- Morgana & Ann – First unlocked with the tutorial for Showtime moves, Bank Palace.
- Ryuji & Makoto – Unlocked when able to send the Bank Palace's owner's calling card.
- Ryuji & Yusuke – Unlocked at the start of Pyramid Palace.
- Yusuke & Ann – Unlocked at the start of Spaceport Palace.
- Morgana & Haru – Unlocked when able to send the Spaceport Palace's owner's calling card.
- Makoto & Haru – Unlocked at the start of Casino Palace.
- Protagonist & Akechi – Unlocked 1/9 in the third semester, on the path to the Royal true ending.
- Protagonist & Yoshizawa – Unlocked when meeting up at the hideout after Yoshizawa's confidant is maxed, from 1/20 onward.
Below is a video with all of the Showtime moves (note, this video contains significant endgame spoilers in the second half):
