How to unlock the You'd Better Hang On! achievement in Persona 5 Royal - Definitive Guide
An easy to get Non missable achievement
Edit: i reloaded an old save to go through this segment again, & it finally popped for me, yaaay!!! I guess if u wonder around like i did the first time, not immediately using the grappling hook like the game suggests (i may have went out of the room, but i definitely went up to get the chest & was playing around with the distance of when my hand would turn blue, or "flash" like it claimed, etc, before i used the grappling hook), it doesn't count for some reason. I used it many times afterwards & it still didn't pop, so it must be tied to this specific scenario, sadly.
Story-related and cannot be missed.
The grappling hook is a new mechanic in Persona 5 Royal. It allows you to grapple up to new heights or ledges that were previously inaccessible. Royal's palaces have many added areas that are accessed by the grappling hook. This trophy involved using the grappling hook for the first time. This trophy is unmissable as several palaces require its use in order to traverse certain areas.
Certain areas can glow with a white glint, indicating they can be grappled up to by pressing the button. Also, the protagonist's left wrist will glow blue when a grapple point is present within reach. The glowing will occur even if you're not actually looking at it, meaning you can pivot around to find the grappling hook when the blue glow occurs.
The first area in which this occurs is the opening sequence of the game, where you are required to use the grappling hook in the preview of the Casino Palace. However, this does not unlock this trophy as it is a scripted sequence.
The actual opportunity to unlock the trophy comes after a tutorial in the Castle Palace, where you will be briefed with a short cutscene regarding its use. You are required to use the grappling hook to progress any further, as the nearby spiral staircase that was accessible in the original Persona 5 is collapsed and unusable in Royal. The trophy will unlock immediately after this sequence.
Below is a video of this sequence.
