How to unlock the Close One achievement in PGA TOUR 2K23 - Definitive Guide
You can get this through mycareer on any tournament, you must be tied for the lead after 18 holes, launching a playoff where you must outscore your opponent. A few things to look out for:
1. If your closest opponent is on 17 and you are trying to match their score, fair warning, they can birdie the last and win the tournament, that happened to me. Best to try on a tournament where the leader has played through 18 holes so you know the exact target.
2. Unlike previous pga tour titles, you are playing solo and cannot see your opponent play their shots, so you will be in the dark as to what score you need to win the playoff.

Has anyone had issues with this? I have tied at the end of a tourney twice and it just defaults me to the winner. Is there a setting option im missing?

I was tied 1st with a par 3 for the playoff. My first shot landed inches from the pin, then the game ended because I lost! I can only assume the AI got a hole in one.

While going through a match, you may have a situation that after completing the last 18 holes you will be tied for first/second place, having the same number of points. Then another hole will be added - the 19th! Win it and get a trophy.
A more reliable way is to complete 17 holes of a match while in first place. On the 18th hole, before the last shot, look at the score of the opponent in second place. For example, he has “-6”, and you have “-10”. This means you need to fail four hits to tie the score with second place. You miss 4 hits, hear the commentator’s voice that “if THIS hit hits, it will be a draw” and end the match. the score will be the same - “-6” and “-6”. A 19th hole will be added, which must be won.
