How to unlock the Misplaced Trust achievement in Phantom Doctrine - Definitive Guide

You'll need a guy with beholder sleeper agent perk. You're going to need to hire lots of guys with hidden perks, hoping to get this one. I've read that hard difficulty increases the chance of getting one, but honestly didn't notice it. They come by sometimes and you'll get one eventually.

There's also a possibility to get the perk on the story related recruit connected to the Leonidas programme, if I remember correctly, but it's deep into the game, so probably not worth the wait.

If you get one of the sleeper agents you have to go to a tactical mission, break infiltration (shoot someone with an unsilenced weapon, basically) and - what made me overthink the achievement - wait a turn. The agent doesn't change sides until the next turn, so don't panic :)

Once he does though, you get the shiny, shiny cheevo.

(the mason gambit doesn't work on that one, neither does trigger phrase, tried those out. It seems that it's you that needs to be betrayed, not the Beholder. I've read a rumour that the combination of the two works for PC and PS4, but didn't try it on xb)

Getting this one before you unlock the MKUltra facility is a bit of a gamble. Choosing new agents to hire that have a lot of unknown traits is probably the best way to do it. During the first chapter of my Mossad run I had to hire one of General Azcarraga's lackeys and he turned out to be a Beholder mole. I didn't test this to see if it was random bad luck or not.

In order to guarantee getting this achievement, wait until you unlock the MKUltra facility in Chapter 2 and interrogate all new agents (new hires, captured Beholder agents, informants, and plot-related agents). With all of them interrogated and an agent working the Comms monitoring system (to help reveal agent traits), eventually you will get an agent with the trait “Beholder Sleeper Agent”. While you can brainwash this out, you won’t get the achievement that way. Instead, take them along on your next tactical mission.

To make that mission easier on you, remove all of the future traitor’s gear and any added compounds in the Body Engineering facility. Mine saw her abilities drop by half and her HP by 25%. This will not prevent the achievement from unlocking, it will just make the agent easier to kill when they do. Alternatively, you could use takedown in combat and turn them into a Saboteur or execute them afterwards. However you want to deal with traitors. The achievement will unlock at the end of the first enemy turn once open combat is initiated. Just cap the first civvy or guard you see with an unsuppressed weapon or enter a restricted area without a disguise.

From about the middle of the game, we try to hire agents with a large number of unknown perks, to unlock which he can be sent on a tactical mission with an SAS agent. If you get a mole in your perks, good luck: we take it on a mission, start a fight, and the next turn we get a trophy.
You don’t have to remove moles from the team - they work great in office jobs, the main thing is not to take them on missions.
