How to unlock the …a fleeting memory achievement in Phantom Dust - Definitive Guide

This can be earned during the mission Highway: The Abundance of Memory. You can get this on a mission replay from the Simulator.

In my experience the best strategy is to acquire the Bomb skill and stay on the upper level of the highway attacking the enemy with Bomb. Be careful of walls and the enemy being under you as the bomb skill has splash damage.

It seems like the only time the enemy will take damage is when one of the eyes does not see the attack coming. If an eye sees the attack it will shield. Staying on the top of the bridge helps you lob bomb attacks at the enemy without it seeing them coming. Hitting the side eyes can be a pain because most bomb attacks hit the top of the enemy and don't always do damage.

Spamming the bomb seems a bit of a luck-based strategy.

Here's what I did. Right off the bat target the top eye, get all three skills and throw the spear, it will destroy the monster's shield. After that spam the bomb on it. The bomb should ricochet on one of the side eyes at least twice (6 damage total). After that get the levitate skill as soon as possible. Use levitate and throw a bomb when the boss is on the other side of the bridge. At around this point the boss will start to get offensive.

He mostly has three attacks : a sort-of homing missile that does 1 damage, a blue strike from the sky and a burst of red balls that does 6 damage when you get hit. All attacks can easily be avoided by running from one side of the highway to the other, but the best strategy to avoid his third attack is to use levitate as soon as he's attacking. I never got hit by that attack using levitate while I got hit a few times while running on the highway... I guess it all comes down to one's preferences. Also, use the green buff skill as soon as you se it.

Anyways, once you kill his top eye your next target will be the two side eyes. To hit those you will need to see the in front of you before shooting. The bomb is mostly pointless here, just use the fireball attack that costs 3 aura and deals 2 damage. With the green skill buff used the attack should do 3 damage so just run around and wait for the boss to do his 6 damage attack. After using this attack, he won't be able to move for 2-3 seconds, which is enough to land to fireball attacks when close to the highway. Hitting him for this part is kind of a pain since you need to be perfectly lined up to one of the eyes for your attack do damage him.

Took me two hours to understand how this boss fight works and when I finally did, no achievement popped... yeah... fuck this game.

Edit: Nevermind... silent unlock.

The boss (Peccato) moves around the entire Highway stage in a circle. For the most part, I kept my distance from Peccato and used Laser to slowly chip away at its side eyes until its top eye was exposed. From there, I tried to stay within mid-range and I used Bomb to take out the top eye. When Peccato is at a long-range distance, it tends to use Photon Shower to attack, so all you have to do is continue running in one direction until Photon Shower stops. Use Laser Shell to defend yourself from Peccato’s other attacks.

If you die during the mission, you can interact with the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ and revisit the mission later on. Select scenario, then choose Highway. Pick the “Abundance of Memory” mission and replay the mission without dying or retrying to unlock this achievement.
