This is unlocked during the Halls of Stone sequence. You will find the guy sitting down on a broken bridge.
The item you require is called Golems heart and it is in a chest just passed the doorway to Crystal Cave not through the doorway just a little past it. In order to access the chest You have to defeat multiple enemies, I would recommend going to Nile/Avaris getting better equipment then coming back after leveling up. The Arrow of Desire backpack is a massive help.
The reward is garbage you don't get a gem so i advise going to Avaris then coming back once you have an attack to deal with multiple enemies
