Levelling up is essential in this game but not as important as collecting Shabti Gems. Complete all of the sidequests for each area these give good XP as well as good reward items.

You will find whenever you enter a new region and fight new enemies you will quickly level up. When it begins to slow right down, you know its time to move on. However most ares have a boss that you will struggle against, forcing you to farm XP. You'll find good farming spots on your own. You can also purchase a ring from one of the merchants called the ring of hard earned lessons. This boosts your Xp after every kill and makes a massive difference.

When you die you aim to retrace your steps to recover your lost experience unless you had very little or you accidentally stumble upon a boss you weren't ready for.

When you reach The Halls of Stone/ Royal Quarry you should quickly level from 10-15 provided you are being thorough. The War Golem is really tough I was Level 14 when I beat him and I struggled.

Once he is gone you'll be able to access Nile Delta, these enemies drop good XP I went from 15 to 20 without farming. I had the ring on the whole time and always collected my lost memories.

If you made this far in the game without giving up you will be on your way to level 30 soon enough
