You can select if you want to play the tutorial or not on the starting screen.
The tutorial starts with 3 short-ish missions that teach you the very basics of the game. If you have played any X-Com games before this will be very familiar.
After you finish the third mission you will get to your base back and after the game teaches you some more stuff about upgrading your base and squad it then sends you on your first "real" mission and this will pop at the end of that mission. If you follow the games instructions you will get 3-4 quick achievements here. All in all maybe 20-30 minutes of playing depending on difficulty and how familiar you are with this turn based strategy games.
