You don't have to have them all at once either it should be noted. I'd bought an item from the shop and had 55 coins when it popped.

Seems like you can just keep beating the baskick dude. I lost my 3x streak twice and was at 60 or something coins when I finally got that baskick bs done. Only collected a few more coins and that was it, acvievement unlocked.

Toward the end of the Village portion of the story, Mr. Sunshine will be introduced and throw coins all over the game world. These coins are located in every area and in the transitional areas. Just play through the game as normal and collect as many coins as you can along the way. You can continue collecting them after finishing the story, if you still haven't collected 70. You can spend these coins in shops without negatively impacting your progress toward this achievement as it is cumulative.
