How to unlock the Dancing machine achievement in Pikuniku - Definitive Guide

The "Dance King" is located in the Sunshine Club at the top of the Forest. When you try to go in, a robot will reject you for not having enough swag / style. All you have to do is go to the shop, buy the pair of sunglasses, put them on, and then you will be able to enter the club.

Once your in, just go over to the left and challenge him. For the actual challenge you just have to press the correct button at the right time. It's fast, and will likely take several tries, especially the last part. Be patient and try not to spam the buttons too fast.

NOTE - If you make any mistakes and continue on with the game, then you will have to start a new game because the robot will breakdown and you won't be able to challenge it again. I recommend pressing the Xbox button to bring up the guide and quitting out of the game. You'll be able to continue from the checkpoint right before the dance.

Mr Splash did a video for this one, but it doesn't explain how to get in the club. It just shows the actual gameplay. I'll provide it anyways in case people are wondering what that is like.

I'm going to have this damn song stuck in my head for how long it took me to get this. I found it easier to use a keyboard in the end, the last part especially is easier to do with the arrow keys I think

Good comment above: " I recommend pressing the Xbox button to bring up the guide and quitting out of the game. You'll be able to continue from the checkpoint right before the dance." Press Xbox button, then Start button over the game name, and scroll down to Quit. This worked for me. I did it maybe like 10 times. The dance is SO not hard. Hardest part is the last step: it goes AYAYAYAYAYAYA (not sure how many times). But I was just able to do it by just flip flopping those buttons as fast as I could. Don't worry about any pace. It's as fast as you can do it. I just scored 100% with this tehnique!

Really annoying to quit then reload. When I messed up early I would stop playing completely so I could quickly retry. After many attempts of missing one or two presses, I used a headset and I got it immediately. Maybe the immersion helped me focus better.

It's not that hard but the end is easy to mess up. You'll likely be too fast.
Got it on 3rd try.

Don't spam. That shit doesn't work. I'll help by saying hitting fucking extra notes will cause a fail too, in addition to missing them. This wasn't immediately apparent.

The fact that TA has only given this achievement a TA score of 239 is a joke.

God, this was really annoying. Reminds me why I suck at rhythm games.

End bit was always messing me up but literally, just go slower. Definitely not fast. I tapped the YA button's pretty much at the same pace as all the other buttons leading up to it.

Also, if you mess up, rapidly tap loads of buttons to make your rating go down. That possibly means your score rating will be lower than the robot, so you can just retry without having to quit out of the game.

I cant stress this enough. At the end with the A/Y, go slowly. Slower than you think. I spent days thinking i was going too slow so was going far too fast. You have to press them so its about a third of a second between each press. It feels like you're late but you are not.

A good spot to practice the timing is with the 5 Y's that appear half way. Test how slow you need to be there. This way you don't have to do the whole song to practice.

I'm so relieved i finally did this lol

"100%" doesn't necessarily mean perfect. 110 button presses and I literally screwed up on the very 1st one! 109/110 is apparently close enough to 100% to round up and pop the achievement.
So if you screw up, you can let the score show at the end, press the guide button, highlight the game, press start and select Quit. Then relaunch the game. Takes you right before you challenge the robot.

Would like to reply that after about 10 fails I tried to turn the audio off and did it second try with no sound. It could be because I'd already remembered the buttons but I do think that they rhythm is a little confusing during that last AY part. So kudos to the post to turn audio off it worked for me.

Congrats, glad to see you were able to get it after all. I agree, this achievement was frustrating. It takes several tries to get the rhythm down. Like some of the comments have been saying, I also had a hard time with the last part because I kept hitting the AYAY buttons too fast.

For anyone having trouble, just keep trying. Take a break if you have to, and try again later. Eventually you'll get that rhythm.

Quick question. I can easily do the final section just spamming YA really fast, but will that void the achievent, as it also resets the little counter?
I guess I'm asking do you need exactly 110 button presses, or doesn't it matter as long as you don't miss any?

I suggest muting your headset when doing this achievement, the last part (AYAYAY) does not seem to match with the music imo, having it muted made it easier for me. Also using fingers instead of my thumb made it more doable.

By DarkDragonEye7 on 15 Nov 2020 14:02
Spamming does void the progress, even with all the button presses youll end up with around 80% at the AYAYAYAY part. My suggestion would be to slow it down and have controlled presses. It's actually not as fast as it appears.

This achievement is painful, and I give up.

To anyone who thinks this game is an easy game Pass 1000G: no, it's not. Not unless you're actually really good at rhythm games.

I got this on the first try as a DDR player, hahaha, is hard for begginers because you can't retry in one playthrough, i got this using just one thumb up and down in the end, is better turn the controller to 90º and press A and Y with two thumbs.

I can fully confirm that there is room for error but by one button press. I missed one button press during the Y's section and hit everything else and still made it to 100%. Still a cute game.

@vegansound As far as I understand, it can't be done later in the game. If you choose to continue past the dance section, then the robot breaks down and you will not be able to challenge it again.

You would have to start a new game just for this achievement.

I'd highly recommend playing it a few times to get the hang of the timing and to memorise the song, then turning the volume off and when on the AY section using both thumbs on the A and Y and not rushing.

Got this after a couple hours, highly recommend sitting close to your TV/Monitor and using the largest one you have available to allow you as much time as possible to see the upcoming sequences and make it easier when hitting the buttons. As for the final A/Y button section I actually found it easier to quickly alternate with just my one thumb as when I used two thumbs I found myself pressing the buttons too fast, but do whatever works as you practice. Good luck to anyone else still hunting this achievement!

just got it with my own music playing. Did not work on the intro just waited for the ending to catch the correct tempo. it is really slow, it felt like almost half a second between each one. I think there will be differences depending on the controller used and the tv. Also at the end it said i got 109/110 which was weird because i don't remember missing one. but it still unlocked.

In case that helps anybody I just wanted to add that the music is 136bpm. I used a metronome app on my phone set to 272bpm to help me, and quickly turned the sound off for the final AYAYAY bit, and just followed the metronome.

Yeahhh... no, just no. I think I'm good lol. Not worth the aggravation for me. I'm sure I could do it but I just don't think it's worth the energy and time to try it over and over. I'm fine with 900/1000 on this one.

this is not nearly as bad as people are making it sound (just make sure you are counting the last part and not just button mashing because if you press any button at the wrong time you void your 100% and if you are button mashing you are most likely going to screw it up)

I don't know if this will help anyone else, but the only part I was having trouble with was the ending "AY" sequence. I found I was spamming AY too fast which was causing me to fail. What finally got me the 100% in this was to not spam AY, but to hit AY when I heard the piano notes.

This has to be one of the worst achievements I have done I tried everyone's advice but all i can say is just do what you are comfortable doing it as if its sound on or off.. the only advice I will give is.. if you mess something up keep going get used to the other buttons yet to come you can finish the dance and still have time to dashboard and load back up again so if you miss a button keep going get the feel for the others and also you can get 109/110 and the achievement will pop!! GOOD LUCK

I struggled with the final section also - until I counted how many sets of AY presses there were (there are 8).

As you hit the AYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY section just count on the A hits in your head to the beat.. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and as soon as you hit 8 you should only have a Y press left to finish.

Did it first try once I followed this. I also used my fingers rather than thumb.

Yes I know it breaks after the battle if we beat it, Fl0ydPinkert0n. But my question was if I don't 'fight' it, how far can I go until I'm stuck? Apparently we can't finish the game witout beating it, it's part of the story (beating it perfectly or not). I'd like to continue the story, putting the fight aside for a moment, until I'll be obliged to defy it. I fought it was a side quest, but I saw that we'll have to beat it to continue the story.

Muting the sound and using a metronome helped me. For me, however, the correct metronome speed was more like 122/244bpm. You can sync your metronome relatively easily to the speakers in the two top corners of the screen.

This was far harder than I would have expected - I just couldn't get the speed right for the last 16 notes. However, my kids could do that part no problem (but not the rest) so I set up Copilot to use two joypads (possibly could have just handed the joypad at the right time or used the keyboard, I suppose) and happily it popped after a few attempts.

Copilot had to be switched off after every failure and turned on again in the club as the game didn't like choosing a profile with it on.

Fl0ydPinkert0n’s guide has the details pretty well, but I’m embarrassed to say it still took me a few hours to grab this one. It sounds like people with keyboards get through more easily, but I was stubbornly using my controller. Oh well, at least the song is catchy.

For those stuck on the AYAYs at the end, I recommend trying with volume off. I found it easier to get the timing right on the button presses when I didn’t have the rapidfire keyboard notes playing in the background. Admittedly the music helped for the rest of the dance, but I ended up playing with sound off and got through in far fewer attempts than I had failed with the music on.

Cheers, I know this is a tough one and different people will have better luck with different approaches. I’m just hoping this helps some of you out.

Thumbs up. Great guide. The video helps get your timing right. I just replayed the short segment beginning at 20'27'' in part 2 of the walkthrough to get the timing of that last pesky segment right. It was certainly a lot easier than replaying the dance sequence in the game and having to dashboard each time. This is the URL of part two beginning at the 20'27" mark for those who want to go directly there: https://youtu.be/Vj7gn2Gxgfk?t=1227. The dance itself begins at the 19'29" mark at URL https://youtu.be/Vj7gn2Gxgfk?t=1169.

Muting the game was definitely he way to go, I think the AYAYAY part does not match the music and thats what made it so hard. With your suggestion it only took me a handful of tries to get it clap

Noise off is such a great tip. The music is honestly good so I didn't wanna turn it off but this helped so much.

For any elite controller owners: Map a paddle to be A / Y. I mapped my lower left paddle to A and that helped me avoid switching between A and Y with just my thumb

Just a couple of tips for the AYAYAYAY part.
- Mute game audio and set a metronome for 136 bpm
- The rest of the song is quite doable with a single thumb but you need to switch to both thumbs just for the ending part.

Good luck!

If you complete the dance battle without a perfect score, you will need to start a new game as the dance battle is not replayable. To avoid this issue, if you make a mistake back out to the home screen and close the game. Reopening the game will start you back just before the dance battle.

The dance battle is a required part of the story in the Forest. You will need to purchase sunglasses at the shop, so you are cool enough to enter the club. Now, challenge the Dance King and get ready to boogey. This is a rhythm mini game, where you need to push the correct face buttons as they enter the circle on the left side of the screen. The button pattern is always the same and you can keep replaying this using the method mentioned earlier until you get a perfect score.

If you're like me, stuck on the latest AYAYAY... then try turning off the sound. The letters go at the same speed, but the music speeds up at the end - this gets in the way. Stuck on this challenge for a couple of hours, then turned off the sound and unlocked the achievement on the first try.
