There are six sidekicks to be found in Deadfire. Sidekicks can join your party but don’t have personal quests nor relationship options.
Vatnir: Found at Harbinger’s Watch. He is part of DLC and not required. Thanks Pink Freud PhD
Ydwin: Ydwin can be found at Spire of the Soul-seers Rooftop.

Just to add to your solution, Vatnir is part of Beast of Winter (DLC originally) and is not required for this achievement. I just unlocked it having gotten all the others and not him.
