How to unlock the Golden Boot Trophy achievement in Pinball FX - Definitive Guide
This isn't an easy achievement, but if you know the best way forward it becomes much more manageable. Here are the factors that made the achievement possible for me:
•It's essential to realize that if you don't lose all of the balls that you keep progress between matches. Any progress you have on the table stays, in terms of lit players, etc. So at first you're trying to get all of your players lit over time, and at an opportune time.
•Eliminating defenders is done by getting a streak of lane combos while you're "in possession of the ball." If you keep the streak up, each successive lane hit will remove one of the defender players near the goal, making it much easier to score a goal.
•It's important not to lose possession of the ball, because when you do you lose the ability to make progress on a lot of features on the table, and the opposing team can score goals. The in-lanes on either side of the flippers light up when rolled over, and when both are lit you go "on attack." You should try to do this regularly so that you don't lose posession. Listen to the commentators, and when they say something about losing possession make sure you get the rollovers relatively quickly to prevent that.
•Lighting all of your players on the center of the playfield is how you get to the most important ways to score a lot of points, Skill Mastery Multiballs and Wizard Mode. Each lane has letters that light up when you shoot them, and when you complete spelling the word in each lane you get a Skill Mastery Multiball. Every time you get this, one of your players lights up on the playfield near the flippers. When they are all lit, the next goal will activate Wizard Mode.
•Wizard Mode is what will probably make or break your attempt for the achievement. These Golden Goals count toward the needed ten goals for the achievement, and during this multiball game time doesn't elapse. It's critical to try to do a few things in setting up your Wizard Mode before activating it, to have the best opportunity. It's very important to eliminate all defenders (or as many as possible) prior to starting the Golden Multiball, because whatever defenders are there for your goal are the same that will be there for the entire Golden Multiball, and you want those goals to be as easy as possible. Also, make sure that you hit all 3 of the saucer locks before starting the mode to get all of the balls active and get the bonuses that each of them provides. During this mode, you have to shoot some jackpots before you get a super jackpot lit on either of the attack lanes (CROSS and LONGBALL), then that ball will go to the mini playfield where you need to get past the goalie. These goals count! In between super jackpots, you have to hit some regular jackpots to relight the super jackpot, which you can do infinitely as long as you have more than one ball in play. I liked to trap a ball on the right flipper and use the left to shoot the LONGBALL lane to get to the goalie, again using the same left flipper to trap the ball up top until a shot was cleanly possible.
Other tips in general: The Goal Celebration multiball will not score you any goals, so while you might get points off of it, it's really only practice for the Wizard Mode. Finally, play in Arcade Mode with the bonus Ball Save and Combo Time perks (not positive, but Combo Time should keep the combos going for eliminating defenders easier).
Good luck!
