How to unlock the Legendary Swordsman achievement in Pinball FX2 - Definitive Guide
OK this is a total pain in the a$$ achievement.
In order to complete this you must be taken to the mini table underneath the main table. There are several ways to get there.
At the beginning of the game you can access this by hitting it into the palace. This is under the upper right flipper. You need to hold up the upper right and hit it in there with the upper left flipper.
After a certain point this access will no longer be available, but this was the easiest for me. In the video posted, the guy (this is not my video) tries this shot at about 8 seconds into the video.
You can see it's no longer possible when you see either the magic carpet or the sword on the upper middle playfield.
In the video this guy hits it into the oasis with the upper right flipper to start this mini game.
You can also start this by hitting the ball between the little buildings to the right of the lower table. This will start giving you the option of starting the tables 3 main missions. It also drops the ball right at the upper right flipper for a much easier shot at the oasis. This is how I usually try starting this mission.
If you can manage the shot like this guy in the video, it doesn't matter, as long as you get to the lower playfield that's the important part.
To get this achievement you need to hit all the moving targets before either losing the ball down the center or hitting the ball out the top. You can complete this mission without getting the achievement if you manage a shot out the top of the table.
The pin at the center bottom of the field will block the ball once before going down. You can make it come back up by hitting 1 of the top 2 stationary guys, but if the ball hits the pin it will go down again.
Once the last guy goes down the achievement will pop. You can let the ball drain down the bottom or hit it up and out to complete the mission.
This is hard, which is why I don't have it yet. I will have it soon.

This achievement probably took me about 500 tries to do. Pure insanity.

You need to get down into the mini-playfield down below. I found the easiest way in is to go in the Oasis sinkhole via the right slingshot. To get to the slingshot, you may shoot the left orbit, then a quick shot to the Oasis hole. An easier way is for a late shot off the left flipper up the place ramp, which will tee up the shot very slowly for you. A late shot off the slingshot will land you in the mini-playfield. I've found this way to be the most consistent way of entering.
Once you're in the mini-playfield, you need to knock down all the guards. If you drain before knocking them all down, you'll need to start over, though it's likely just another shot into the Oasis for another try. If you clear the mini-playfield by hitting the ball up through the center before knocking down all the guards, you'll "win," but won't get the achievement. You need to knock down every single guard.
As with most mini-playfields, the trick is to control the ball. Balls fly wildly in mini-playfields and this is no exception. Try to keep small quick shots at the guards and be aware that you are able to trap the ball if you need to.
I made this video.

The guards reset if you drain in the mini-game.

Great explanation, and much clearer than the garbled solution above, thanks to a clear use of pinball terms :)
