How to unlock the A Legend Returns achievement in Pinball FX3 - Definitive Guide
Use the Captain America ball, and have the Rewind wizard upgrade. Try setting your view to view 6. It zooms out the table so you can see everything including beneath the flippers. Whichever outlane it goes down, hold that flipper up and nudge the table upwards just as the ball gets to the top of the flipper (where the flipper connects to the table). It should nudge the ball back up onto the opposite flipper. Let it rest on that opposite flipper, DO NOT shoot it immediately back onto the playfield. That should pop your achievement.
For this achievement, you have to use a pinball technique called the Bang Back, which requires you to hold the flipper of the outlane the ball is rolling down and tilt up (kickbacks and ball save do not count towards the achievement). Once the ball reaches the flippers and is safely on the playfield, let it rest/roll down the flippers for a second for the achievement to count (if rolling down the flippers don't let it drain otherwise it won't count).
Some tips:
For wizard skills, use Slow Motion to find a good spot to tilt. I usually waited until it was around the lower edge of the flipper.
Using to tilt is slightly stronger than using the left stick so I'd recommend changing it in the settings.
Since you have to use Captain America's Ball (the one that looks like his shield with a Star and some Stripes), avoid locking the ball. There's two multiball locks (one in center field if there's a single target and two holes and one in the Flying Ship) and if you enter one, that Avenger becomes unavailable. If this happens, restart the game.
The achievement is slightly luck based as even when performing all of the above the ball may still drain. Keep trying and it will be yours.

To unlock this trophy you need to be playing with the Captain America ball (which is the second from the left).
Depending on your luck, you may end up getting this trophy while trying to unlock the other one. You will find that if you try to get it on purpose, you will have a hard time getting the ball into the outlane. Luckily there is an easy method to do just that:
- Place the ball on the right flipper and shoot it into Black Widow Ramp (it has black hour-glass symbol on it, it's right to the right of Thor's hammer ramp)
- When the ball is on its way down and is about to cross over the left outlane (to the left top of the blue Avengers sign in the bottom left), nudge the table to the top.
- The ball will fall into left outlane and start rolling down.
- Lift the left flipper and nudge the ball with the left stick towards top-right. You need to do it fairly early on, when the ball is underneath the left edge of the left flipper (where its hinge would be). It will feel like you're nudging too early but that's the only way it will work. If you wait too long, the ball will not bounce off the bottom high enough.
- Be careful, as the table will TILT if you bump it 3 times in a row.
