How to unlock the Dragonslayer achievement in Pinball FX3 - Definitive Guide

This table is kind of a continuing saga. The more you play the more you level up so try not to restart and always continue your character from game to game.
This table can be extremely confusing if you don't know what you are doing so I'm going to dumb it down a bit. Keep trying to do the main quest which starts by hitting the main sinkhole in the center. When you start quests you will be trying to hit the lanes that are lit up and also hitting characters that appear on the table.
If you complete a quest, you move on to the next quest. The third quest is defeating a dragon. It continues from game to game so if you get to the dragon quest and the game ends, it will be the first quest in the next game. As long as you don't change characters.
You can change at the beginning of the game, so make sure you continue instead of starting new. If you accidentally hit the wrong, it will ask are you sure so you can just hit no.
One thing that is confusing is the game will pause and ask questions and not tell you how to respond. Basically flippers will change your options, cn_A or launch will select and to go back, hold both flippers.
There is a sinkhole on the right, when lit will give you loot, I always took the loot so hit that always. Hitting the watchtower during a quest will let you change your equipment. Always use the best weapon you have.
Always level up stamina so you can carry more when you level up.
Now I found a really easy way to defeat a dragon, start a multiball. I literally beat a dragon in less than 5 seconds just by rapidly hitting the flippers without even aiming. So if you have the dragon quest next or you finished the last game and didn't defeat it, try this.
To start, you'll have to lock 3 balls. To start this multiball you have to spell out “DOVAHKIIN”. To do that, you have to hit the cobblestone looking ramps to the right and left of the table. Hit both ramps and it will spell a letter. You have to hit both to get the letter. It will spell it out on the dot Matrix. You can't spell it out during a mission. Once “DOVAHKIIN” is spelled out, three blue lock symbols will appear at the far right, left and the watchtower. The easiest way to do this would be to hit the far right, and far left sinkholes to lock both balls, then start the mission by hitting the center sinkhole, then hit the watchtower to start multiball. Then hit the dragon as many times as possible and it should die really fast.
I struggled with this then accidentally started the multiball just when the dragon quest started and got it fast. I had failed to defeat the dragon about 5 times before that.
Good luck.

I thought that I will add that this method of killing the dragon works great, but the achievement does not unlock in the challenge modes.

Silly me has to fight another dragon.

Step 1: Summon the Dragon
Shoot the ball up to the Watch Tower 7 times while the "Dragon Shout" light is flashing. After the 7th shot up the Watchtower the mini playfield will be open. Shoot the ball back up the Watchtower to access the mini-playfield. Using your flipper buttons, flip the sword back and forth to make the ball hit the targets at the top of the mini-playfield. If you fail to hit all the targets, just shoot another shot up the watchtower to put the ball back up there. Once you hit all the targets a dragon will be summoned onto the table for you to defeat.

Step 2: Defeat the Dragon
Basically it comes down to two steps: hurt the dragon and heal yourself. The dragon battle will take a while so you most likely will have to heal yourself to be successful. While attacking the dragon you can literally shoot the dragon on the playfield with your ball to strike him with your weapon and cause damage. If you need to heal yourself, then shoot the left orbit. Here are the basics:

  • Regular attack: It can be performed by shooting the ball up the Watchtower (if the dragon is up there) or shooting the Dragon himself (if he has landed on the main playfield).
  • Power attack: If the player holds a flipper for several seconds before shooting the ball it will trigger an attack that will result in a power attack. This will be indicated with a Power Attack bar at the flippers and when it is full, a flashing Power Attack Ready light will be flashing.
  • Block: The Trainer Target Area has to be hit when its lamp is flashing (between the right ramp and the right sink hole) to perform a block. It is available continuously to hit the block lane in which case the next incoming attack will be blocked.
  • Heal: The Bumpers through the Left Orbit can be used for healing if the character is hurt. This is the only magic spell that does not need to be applied on the character so it can be used any time.

Note: If the character's health reaches zero or below, they will die. However in this pinball game the battle will end and you have to start over at step one and summon another dragon.
