How to unlock the The Wanderer achievement in Pinball FX3 - Definitive Guide

This is relatively difficult achievement, but I can describe how to do it hopefully more easily.
The game has missions that you can play. In order to level up you have to complete these missions. There are several different types of missions. Each type seems to get progressively harder.
The goal of all of them is similar, first hit the lanes that are marked "mission", once you have hit several, then these targets pop out of the table and you can either hit these, or better yet, hit the flashing lanes because this seems to hit all enemies.
There is both an attack and defend mode, you have a certain amount of time for each. I would highly trying to get good at hitting either of the defend lanes. It makes things a whole lot easier unless you are very good at attacking.
Also, you can use a nuke to finish all enemies at once. It's not easy to do. The game gives you 1 to start. In order to use it you must hit the Nuke lane only available at the top left of the table in green during the attack and defend mode. If you manage to hit it either by using the hitting an early shot with the top right flipper, or a very lucky bounce. Sometimes in the later missions it is blocked by a target and you have to knock that down first. Then you will get an animation of a target on the table and your reticle will be shifting left to right, you have to time it right. This isn't very hard, you can move right and left with the flippers, but I'd recommend that you don't, just wait until the reticle is coming towards the target. Watch the video posted below. If you miss, the mission continues and you can only get another Nuke by buying them from the shop, see below.
You can also use V.A.T.S., that isn't easy, I've only managed it once, look in the guide posted below for how to do it or look in the table guide in game.
Here are the different types of quests.
First there are main quests, you can start them by hitting the targets at the top left of the table. Then wait for the ramp to rise out of the top middle of the table, then hit it in there. That's an easy shot.
Next there are 4 factions and each has several missions, after completing the shots required you must hit the faction sinkhole, then you will have to lock a ball in the same sinkhole after completing a mission, either pass or fail, before you can start another mission.
Minutemen, railroad, Brotherhood of steel and institute. Each has it's own way of starting them.
To start up a Minutemen quest, the player has to find new locations by making bumper hits. Once the required locations are found, a Minutemen quest will be available at the Faction hole.
The railroad missions require you to hit either the lane between the sinkholes on the left or the left most of the 2 lanes in the center right of the table 4 times.
Brotherhood mission requires you to hit the right most mini lane that puts the ball at the upper right flipper. You need to hit that a few times.
The institute requires you to hit either the right most of the lanes in the center right of the table or the left orbit which is only accessible using the right flipper. It's the one under the nuke lane. Takes a few hits here on either lane.
There are also side missions that you can start by hitting all 4 targets opposite the main mission targets, then hitting the hole that appears in the center left lane in the middle of the table.
There are other side missions that start by hitting all the rollover in and out lanes. As soon as you light them all up, the mission starts.
Completing any of these missions will give you XP to help level you up.
You can only upgrade your character in the shop. You only have access to the shop by first hitting either the left or right inlane i.e. shop lane. Then you must hit the left most half sinkhole to get to the shop. You only have 10-15 seconds to do this.
You don't have to do it like this, but this is what I think is the easiest way.
As the game starts you have to create your character. You have 5 skill points to start, I'd put 1 in strength, endurance and agility and 2 in intelligence so you get more xp for missions.
Then try to complete 1 of each missions. The first of each are the easiest to complete. As soon as you gain each level go to the shop and upgrade in this order, 1 in perception, 1 in intelligence, 1 in strength, and the last 2 in intelligence. Or 1 and when you get the final upgrade you get the achievement, you don't need to go to the shop to upgrade.
Using this method I only needed to do 4 total missions, but 1 was the second main mission cause I failed the first. I actually didn't mean to start it, I think I could have done it with another side mission. I did 1 side mission, second main mission, brotherhood mission and 1institution. If you fail any your results may be slightly different.

Note: Before starting the game you will have the option to create a character or generate a random character. Select to create your own character. While the gender doesn't matter the skill points do. By putting all your skill points into intelligence, you will earn more XP for completed missions and thus help you get to level 5 quicker.

There are several modes or methods you can use that will help you with this trophy. You can complete Faction, side or Vault Missions (main mission on this table) to complete this trophy. Below is a description of how start each type of mission. Completing missions will give you XP. After you complete a mission you must then go to the shop and apply your skill point. Again putting your skill points into intelligence will increase your XP awarded to you making leveling up easier. While in the shop you can also purchase other useful items such as kickbacks and ballsaves.

Basic walkthrough:

  • Step 1: Start and complete a mission to earn XP (I personally recommend 5 Railroad Faction missions for the trophy).
  • Step 2: Open and enter the Shop to apply your new skill point and level up.
  • Step 3: Repeat until reaching level 5.

Faction Missions:

Faction Missions have randomized templates. These usually consist of shooting enemy targets or shooting the flashing lanes to travel somewhere or find something. There are 4 factions in Fallout Pinball. However, completing specific Faction missions can lead to other Factions to not cooperate with the player anymore. To "raise awareness of the Factions" or start a faction mission, the player has to perform faction specific tasks (see below). Once these specific tasks are completed, the Faction Sink Hole will be lit and available. Shoot the ball in the sink hole and choose between the available Faction missions you've activated.

  • The Minutemen: To start up a Minutemen quest, the player has to find new locations by making bumper hits. Once the required locations are found, a Minutemen quest will be available at the Faction hole.
  • The Railroad: To start up a Railroad quest, shoot the ball up either the left ramp or right ramp. Once the required ramp shots are completed, a Railroad quest will be available at the Faction hole.
  • The Brotherhood of Steel: To start up a Brotherhood of Steel quest, the player has to hit the right mini-orbit several times. Once it is done, a Brotherhood of Steel quest will be available at the Faction hole.
  • The Institute: To start up an Institute quest, the player has to hit either the left or right orbit. Once the requirement is complete, an Institute quest will be available at the Faction hole.

The Faction missions will have you either shooting down enemy targets that pop up on the playfield or shooting the flashing lanes and ramps to complete them.

Side Quest Missions:

  • Step 1: Shoot the targets that are up towards the center, they are on the side of the right ramp. You can hit these targets using the upper left flipper.
  • Step 2: After shooting the targets a hole will open up on the right ramp. Shoot the ball in the hole on the right ramp to start a side quest mission.
  • Step 3: Complete the random task (shooting down enemy targets that pop up on the playfield or shooting the flashing lanes and ramps to complete them).

Vault Quest Missions:

  • Step 1: Shoot the targets that are up at the center of the table under the big Vault. You can hit these targets by shooting the ball straight up.
  • Step 2: After shooting the targets a ramp will come up in the center lane. Shoot the ball up the ramp in the center. The ball will then jump the ramp into the Vault, allowing you to selct and start a Vault mission.
  • Step 3: Complete the random task (shooting down enemies dodging enemies and shooting the flashing lanes and ramps to complete them).

The Shop:

  • Step 1: Shoot the ball on a ramp to get the ball to travel down the flipper inlane. Once it rolls over the inlane the shop will be lit for a limited time.
  • Step 2: Shoot the ball into the Shop sink hole while the Shop Hole (left of the Factions Hole) is lit.
  • Step 3: Use your flippers to navigate left and right to cycle through the shop choices and apply your skill points when available. Press to select a choice. Finally, when done, cycle over to exit the shop to resume the game.
