Skill checks occur while you are repairing generators. You need to simply pass 5, they do not have to be 'great' skill checks by hitting the very small white sliver, just hitting any part of the skill check will suffice. At the start of the game, play as Survivor and then pick your survivor. You can play as Feng, which will make skill checks easier by slowing them down, but personally I found that the skill checks are already not too difficult, so it isn't necessary to pick them. I would recommend NOT picking Dwight, the survivor that does fast repair. Fast repair will repair generators faster, which in turn will give you fewer skill check opportunities per generator and require you to repair more generators.

Once you start the game, begin to shoot any of the flashing yellow lanes to locate generators to repair. Skill checks seem to be a bit random, but you will probably need at least two generators to get 5 skill checks. I would recommend locating at least 2-3 generators to be safe. One will not be enough. Once you finish locating them, shoot one of those yellow lanes you already shot again to begin repairing. When you pick a generator to repair, you will have to shoot the lanes denoted by the flashing red arrows. From here you will just need to continue repairing generators until you get 5 skill checks.

Generator repair can be interrupted by a chase mode, if this happens you will have to complete the mode by shooting the flashing lanes in time to escape the killer before you can go back to repairing. If you have enough balls, you could also just let the ball drain and you can go back to repairing on the next ball.
