If your going for all the achievements this will come naturally.
Once you are up to "just keep playing the unfair challenge" to get a character to level 80 you will quickly get this.
Winning the unfair challenge nets you around 1000 gold so even if your starting from scratch you should pick this up in 20-25 games depending on how far your get.
There isnt actually any need to spend money for anything really (unless your looking for a certain character in the market) so just hold on to it from the beginning

The, Pants, Party
This is not a large sum by any means. I would leave this until you have got "The Queen Will be Pleased" unlocked since you'll need to continue buying cages to recruit all the different enemy types. You'll also want to unlock the "So Fast So Murderous" achievement as the nitro boosts cost money as well. After that, your gold will quickly accumulate as you work on getting to Level 80 for the final achievement, so don't worry too much about this if there are items or mercenaries you want to buy as you play.
