About halfway down the level is a shop (You need to survive about 30-45 seconds to reach it)
Press start to enter it and than select what costs the least amount of resources which is the Coal which costs 2 gold and 1 rock per piece.
Is cumulative so doesn't need to be in one run either though you should have enough for 4-5 purchases the first time around.
